I had been looking and trying lots of 7Up pound cake recipes. Trying to find one that was similar to my Grandma Lucy’s. I made yours and hand to God. It’s identical to hers. I cried when I ate the first slice. Not just because it was delicious but because it brought back so many memories of baking with her in her Louisiana kitchen. I even made one for my families fish fry and everyone kept saying how it was like Grandma was there and had brought the cake. Thank you so much Mr. Charlie for sharing your recipe. I followed your recipe, except I left my glaze a bit thicker. Let me tell you: DELICIOUS! It's light & moist and just the right amount of lemon flavor. It took me back to childhood, sitting on my aunt's front porch, sipping sweet tea & eating a piece of her 7-Up cake. Thank you for sharing this recipe-it is truly a taste of heaven.

Charlie, I am from your neighboring state Mississippi. As a teenager, I used to bake a 7- Up Cake once a week in our house. A 7-Up Cake is tricky with the carbonation in the drink. I would sometimes shake the drink up and slowly open the lid to slowly decompress the carbonation in the bottle. I would then leave the lid off over night if knowing I was making the cake the next day, so the 7 Up would be flat. Watching this has made me want a 7-Up Cake. I really don't need it.
