The lyrics of this song are so fvcking powerful for a survivor of extreme forms of childhood abuse. I think it’s what it’s about. I’m in fvcking tears 😭. Everything she describes everything she says about her birthday, not knowing if she wants to go or stay, describes perfectly the extent of the mental torture experienced by the children of highly, dangerously toxic parents, that for years, have forcibly induced a total disconnect of reality, of self consciousness, in their child to force them into living according to the reality and consciousness of someone else, and specifically theirs, by using as many and any mean they deem necessary to retrieve this feeling of being in control of it. All there’s left is a shell, you’re just a billboard used for their promotion, for their virtue signalling, told to walk but not to breath, or think, or feel, on our own. That’s the root of her ambivalence, going or leaving is the feeling and questioning staying in this party or leave it The party is their game, the delusion that they’re better because of what’s pinned on their billboard, and the confettis on her body are what on the outside makes her so ‘sparkling’, so more worthy to them, in their delusion, but clearly not in hers, not for her sake, for her benefit, this party/game/delusion doesn’t belong to her and makes no sense according to her state of consciousness. Plus, by how she structured the song, opening with how she feels, inside, which is prioritized over “the party”, where we hear her transform from low notes to high when referring to the party. I really relate to the lyrics "I feel a zombie, I'll die at the party yeah you'll find my body fully covered in confetti" as I had open heart surgery back in January of 2023. An operation, I was medically dead for literally hours then revived. I haven't really felt like I belong in the land of the living ever since, and I'm not suicidal to be clear. But I just can't shake off feeling. It's like showing up late to a party and. Everyone snaps focuse on to you as they are wondering if you should be there. The condition I have (marfans syndrome) affects connective tissues. So, a lovely potential side-effect is spontaneous aortic root dissection. Doing things like partying too hard could fairly easily result in abrupt death. So, I could quite literally drop dead before to confetti hit the floor. Heard a story of a girl getting buried by grad hats cause, she died as they threw them. So I don't think being found dead. Fully covered in confetti is out of my realm of possibilities. Best way to put it for the mcu fans is. I feel like a variant that's variation was living instead of dieing.
