Charlotte de Polignac, who is jeopardized by her mother's agreement to marry her to the Duke de Guiche. Charlotte, not knowing what would happen to her, loses all reason, and commits suicide, jumping from one of the towers of the Palace of Versailles. She dies without knowing that she had a sister called Rosalie, who is in fact Lady Oscar's protegée. She grew a white rose in a tower as a symbol of her friendship with Lady Oscar.

You know, Charlotte died in two different versions. In the manga version, she thrown herself off the staircase in the palace garden. However, in the anime version she committed suicide by jumping off the roof of the palace.

It's an animation, so it's a pure hand kiss, and what the writer wanted to express was Charlotte, a young lady who was raped by a duke. Poor Charlotte.

Her whole arc with Rosalie kinda bothered me. "You're a peasant girl who has a murderous intent on a noble? Well, that's fine by me! Talk to Andre for some sword lessons or something." I know Polignac was becoming a bad influence on Marie, hence Oscar decided to get on her case a bit, but you'd think she'd be the first person to dissuade Rosalie from doing this. Her and Andre are almost nonchalant about it. Probably because they don't see Rosalie as a person that would do such a thing, but she's still a stranger who almost killed her mom. And the whole deal with Charlotte is also quite strange.

I was surprised that I suddenly started to like Charlotte, although she acted rude to Rosalie. Charlotte was of course a bitch at first, but on the inside, she was still a pure young lady who wanted true love like Oscar.

The animation is clear. It’s just a handkiss but it is the way the old duke forced her into the room that suggests Charlotte her destiny. That guy would have really raped her whenever he wanted, once she’d become his wife. That’s why she prefers death.

@@barb7084 esatto, che scena rivoltante, non avevo capito però che i rospi erano un riferimento a lui, la madre è stata crudele perché sapeva che Charlotte non voleva sposarlo ma l'ha costretta, l'unico modo che aveva la piccola per non farlo era uccidersi come ha fatto. Comunque incredibile che un uomo di circa 46 anni si voglia sposare con una bambina di 11, purtroppo questa cosa succede ancora oggi in alcune culture... Charlotte è uno dei miei personaggi preferiti e mi dispiace per lei perché ha fatto una brutta fine

@@robynsegg Because one of the big go-to defenses for the SessRin pairing is historical accuracy in relation to how nobilities would take up child brides and this clip is showing the historic reality of exactly what those marriages entailed which they conveniently want to ignore. Second, those titles have nothing to do with that fact. The latter one I've never even heard of, but if it's being mentioned in the same breath as Boku no Pico, I don't want anything to do with it and should be refused to have its existence acknowledged just like Boku because that is the only fate worse for any piece of media than being hated.

@@ZeldaEd123 The thing is even way back then, people knew that in order for someone to have children one must be fully grown up and not only a literal child who maybe started her period. Also only royals made their children marry early, but only once they were 15 or so, normal folk married later. To conclude it all, people defending their sickness by saying that it happend in the past are in the wrong. Pedophilia, racism and sexism were and always will be wrong no matter what time period.
