Kind of difficult to do when the actor playing the character did not want to come back to the show. They would have had to cast someone else as Sidney Parker which would have been very unbelievable.

​@@jennanadrolewicz I don't mind if they recast Sidney. To me, Sidney Parker and Charlotte Heywood are the central character of the story. I do wish Theo will change his mind though. For me, Season 1 of Sanditon could be the most beautiful love story ever written and produced on screen. No other TV/Movie couples even come close to this magic I felt watching #Sidlotte fall in love. It is just so fun to watch them - the story, the lines, the humour, the costumes, the music, etc. I love this after Phantom of the Opera and the Sound of Music...Best wishes, M E

How do you know how Austen would have ended it. For all we know Charlotte could have married Edward Denham. No where in her UNFINISHED story is a relationship with Sidney Parker even hinted at.

It has been pointed out by critics, that she only has one plot at her disposal, that her social range is tiny, that nobody dies on stage and there are no calamities. Each heroine usually has a rival, but happy endings are always in store. Jane intented for her seventh to follow the same pattern. She had already introduced all the necessary characters in Sanditon. Charlotte was clearly intended as the heroine. Sidney has also been introduced and marked out for the hero as early as chapter two, when Austen explains that Mr Parker had two brothers, of whom the eldest was 'by collateral inheritance, quite as well provided as himself.' This is immediately registered as a clue. In chapter four, Mr Parker describes Sydney and we ardent Austen fans are positive that he is destined to be the hero.
