Essential Survival Tools - Some Are Free, Some Require S&H, Some Are Necessary
And All Are Unique! andysbestbuys.com/
I borrowed this from a coworker who loves this snub nose revolver. She said she loves the size and weight of it. It is very light, so light that I thought it was a aluminum frame but turns out its steel. I was less than impressed with the build quality.... Seems like it wasn't built very tough and you can see where they cut corners in the finish. However, if you want a decent back up gun or purse/car gun, this would be perfect. How can you screw up a revolver right?
I was only given permission to borrow this revolver for one day because it is my coworkers only firearm. So I wasn't able to shoot but I really want to get some shooting impressions of it. She said she always carries it so maybe we can head to the indoor range one day at lunch and I'll film it.

I own one, and I have to say, for a everyday CCW, its great. Not designed to be a combat pistol, its a great defensive revolver. If I am going to open carry, Id carry something else, but its great, light weight. At the range, it fires fine. No issues with the cylinder or anything. However, after firing it a few times, putting about 20 rounds through it, the gun powder residue started to make the cylinder stick when trying to open it to empty it. Cleaned it up, and kept on firing. I can wear this all day, and not worry. For the price point, and for its intended purpose, its great. I bought my wife one too.

+Garett Castle What exactly is the difference between a combat pistol and a defensive revolver?
@garettcastle2335
@garettcastle2335 8 жыл бұрын
+MrTdw1954 Well, ammo capacity for one, barrel length for another. Yes, they both can put down a bad guy, but a combat pistol like the M9 currently being used has 15rds a magazine, while most revolvers are 5-6 rounds, and not easily reloaded unless you are carrying speed loaders, and then you have the bulk issue vs slimmer magazines. The barrel length of a combat pistol is typically longer, thus more accurate vs a shorter barreled defensive wheelgun with a barrel length in the 2.5" - 3" range. Sights may also be a difference. While a lot of (not all) small to medium frame revolvers have a front sight, they typically have a rear sight channel or grove. At the ranges that you will be engaging anything, accuracy isnt much of an issue. Combat pistols have rear and front adjustable sights to make sure you can effectively put 2 to the body, and one to the head.

@@garettcastle2335 too many people miss the whole point of these super light weight charter pistols. They are affordable back up defence weapons. Boot guns, front pocket hide aways, get you out of a jam. Most combat weapons are heavy, expensive, and desighned for the "offencive:"

Well, it’s 2022 now, and they’ve fixed most of the problems identified in this video. You can get a full sight picture on double action. I just got the current production model of the one here in the video, and while the appearance is still pretty pedestrian, it is a solid weapon. Street price is now around $350-$400 or so out of the door online. Trigger pull on the one I just got is very good on both single and double action. Got very good accuracy on my first trip to the range with it, even with +P Underwood rounds. With standard pressure 130 grain range ammo it is a joy to shoot. Highly recommend, in terms of practical value for the money. In terms of accuracy and shootability, you won’t do any better at all with most higher-priced .38 snubbies from the “prestige” outfits. Time will tell in my case if the durability/reliability is there, but initial impressions as of this writing are excellent.

OP comparing an old police trade in S&W Model 10 to the Charter Arms .38s is like comparing apples to oranges. I recently bought an old police trade in S&W Model 10 and that sucker is one solid gun. And that old S&W Model 10 trigger is sweet. Looks like mine was carried many years but NOT shot out by any means. I am currently waiting for my Charter Arms Undercover Lite model to get in. SUPPOSEDLY weighs only 12 oz! Don't plan to shoot thousands of rounds through it so hope it will hold up for me. I sure like the idea of having a 12 oz. snubbie in my leather OWB Blackhawk holster instead of one that weighs about 23 oz. Thanks for your video.

Wow... my Charter Undercover (Tiger) is a lot different. It says ,"Shelton CT." My front sight has serrations. My hammer doesn't obstruct the sights at all. The single action is super light. Like, significantly lighter than my LCRx. I can't even do the weird little thing you were doing because I honestly can't pull it light enough without it firing. I understand that several different people have owned the company over the years but, it's just crazy how different they are.

I do have one of those that I bought for one purpose : to keep in my night stand. For CCW I prefer an automatic SIG or Walther, but this one personal preference not judging the gun. I own about 14 handguns, revolvers and (semi) automatics.Yes, it is not a Smith or a Colt, but as two inch"last stand" tool it will do everything the fancy pants pieces do.One IMPORTANT detail, Charter Arms has a lightweight LEFT HANDED model. No one else does and you could not give me for free those new S&W with that keyed manual safety. S&W is ONLY concerned with their next DOLLAR THEY COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT GUN OWNERS and since that Clinton gigolo administration have been groveling to the gun grabbers .

Half Dog I have both the Taurus 85 UL and the UC 38. I like both! But if I was going to get a 5 shot snubbie, I would get the SW Airweight. Only about $100 more and well worth it. Plus grip selection for the SW J Frame is awesome! Taurus 85/605 are good pistols, and have a better grip selection than the CA UC, but not worth the extra over the UC.

Mine is 6 years newer than the model in the video. The new CH .38 spl Undercover revolver is a continuation of their previous years. The ungraded is a shrouded ejector rod, stainless steel and +P rated. The problem of sight picture with the hammer not cocked has been corrected. They come with a correctable defect, rubber grips. The grip goes far enough up the body that it blocks the shells from ejecting, at least one shell case must be manually pulled out, sometimes two. You also cannot use a speed loader with these grips. A nuisance on the range and as a self defense gun may be a deadly delay if you need to reload. If you are using as concealed carry the grips are large enough to be noticeable. You must throw out the rubber grips and buy the smaller original wood grips. Available at charter arms for about $30.

Comparing it to a S&W K frame is apples and oranges. Compare it instead to a J frame or one of the Rossi looks like pistols. The Undercover hammer is known to snag on clothing and block sights, that is why the low profile hammer is available for those who care about such. The quality (resale value) of a CA revolver is relational to what town it was made in. Bridgeport and Stratford put them together properly. Later towns, the quality varied with the Charco guns being the most questionable.

The man that designed this gun also did Colts, Smith and Wesson, and more. Your video made the revolver sound like it was not well made, just a cheap option out there. I don’t know about the new Charter Arms, but when they started making them, they made a good product. I am betting that they still do.

The current Charter Arms guns are better. This is an older model, probably not even rated for +P ammo.

Stay with charter arms, had the armcore, or rock inland, pistol is made out lead, or some different. Melted, not steel, the cylinder, wiggle, like a wet goose, , on and off , lock up, when, shooting the pistol, , trade it off, at gun show, and 40.00 for a charter arms police bulldog 38 special, snub noise, , made in 1983, with wooden checking grips, like brand new, it's model is a 6 shot, , with the older version, you can see the front sight like the s&w , light to carry, like a derringer, but I 6shots and basically I can hit a fly, with it, had that model in 22lr, never shot it, trade it off, some cash, for a s&w 442, snub noise, try to shoot it, it's only double action only, have better control with single action and double action revolver.

The RIA revolvers are crap? Really?. A) lot of people, including fellow youtubers, would disagree. Sure the fit and finish aren't quite as good as Big 3 revolvers, but RIA s do the job and you aren't paying Big 3 prices.

Stop talking about son of Sam? I don’t understand why people can’t stop mentioning him. Everyone knows; no one cares For you to talk about him 40 years later is exactly what he wanted. Why don’t we talk about charter arms the company and the innovations they’ve made and not just a murderer

Sorry. I could only watch this for about 8 minutes or so. Useless video as far as I am concerned. Does nothing to influence one's opinion if a revolver is a consideration. Some points made are speaking to cosmetics with no reference to actual useage. Much yak, yak about nothing in my opinion!

@@123s453e56a6l i havent had a barrel off yet on any of my S&Ws so I was lucky but I did have one that was canted on my Charter Arms Bulldog. They are fixing it now though. Seems to be a problem across the board on revolvers. Even Rugers too! Dont get me started on Colts especially since they are so expensive. The only revolver ever to be perfect was a Dan Wesson that I had.

That cheaper Smith will be aluminum frame. The Charter Arms is stainless steel. That's why. Full stainless steel j frame S&Ws will cost over twice as much.

Why are you reviewing a gun you have never used or owned. Your wasting the time of people that are interested in this gun.

Hey Clyde - I wouldn't let you review a pencil. Very unprofessional HEY Lets see if I can bend deform the crane on my friends revolver. I noticed you didn't bend the crane on yours. Also have you got calibrated fingers. You have no clue about trigger pull yours is older and hers is newer. All in all I would say that in 2022 that the Charter Arms at about $400.00 compares just fine against a $900.00 Smith. Buy 2 shoot one and store one and you are still $100 ahead.
