the effect you were hearing, is actually Woosung's natural voice. He has a naturally vary distinctive voice and adds licks, and shifts in his voice in places you wouldn't normally hear, but come naturally to him. even when you hear him outside of a studio setting he does the same thing, its one of the reasons i got into the rose because of how distinctly unique his voice is❤

Melia thinking his vibrato was an effect LMAO. I personally LOVE his vibrato, i don't see it as a "mistake" or smth, i consider it an authentic and cool characteristic thing about his voice.

All of The Rose can sing! They are so good. Woosung (English name Sammy) is the lead vocalist, Dojoon (keyboard) is the main vocalist, and NO, that is NOT an affect on Sammy's voice. That is his style. People say Woosung sings "in cursive" because his vocals are so unique. Hajoon on drums and Jae on bass are both also very capable vocalists. Every single concert, the boys have Hajoon and Jae take lead vocals on one song, to remind us Black Roses that they, too, are excellent singers. As much as I LOVE Woosung's voice -- I love it so much -- for some reason Dojoon's voice just makes me smile so much. It's so clear and beautiful. It makes me happy to listen to him sing in a way I can't even explain. I love it. Together, he and Sammy just click and work so well. Note that this song was their very first release as a band. Fun fact: when they brought Woosung in to be their lead vocalist, he asked if he could "just sing" because playing guitar and singing at the same time is really difficult. The others said no, he had to play. 🤣 If you REALLY want to hear a song that showcases Woosung's voice in full, you should react to the ILYSB cover they did at this same venue. It is absolutely THE song for Woosung. Another fun fact: Woosung is from LA, but went to Korea to pursue music and was originally a k-pop trainee (I think for two years?), but he said it felt like it was a prison and he hated it. He lived for six months just working a regular job, and meeting his friend Dojoon for lunch sometimes, and thought maybe the experience had killed his love for music. Dojoon, Hajoon, and Jae were already a band together, and Dojoon lured Woosung into singing with them for a gig. He was like "just one gig, come on". And Woosung says now that the moment they sang the first song, they knew they were meant to be a band together. Imagine, we were that close to Woosung giving up on music.

The lead singer, Woosung does sing like that all the time. No extra effect over his singing voice. Sometimes it even sounds like he deliberately mis pronounces words e.g. a V sound in another song where it would normally be an F in English as he moves along his vocal range. I use the word “deliberate” only because I understand he is fluent in English so must realise the mispronunciation. Not a criticism but an observation. I adore The Rose. They take the idea of music as healing very seriously.

Omg yes!!! If you love kpop voices, the kband world, their music and singers will blow your mind!! Onewe's Yonghoon, N.Flying's Hweseung, FT.Island's Hongki, Xdinary heroes' Yooyeon and Jungsu, CNBlue's Yonghwa, Hoppipolla's Ha Hyunsang... they are in my opinion hidden vocal gems, i bet you will not regret hearing their music!!

Trust me, I went to a concert they had and Woosung’s voice is absolutely incredible. While talking to the audience he sung acapella and that is how his voice sounds. I have other artists and groups I absolutely love, but Woosung’s voice is def one of the best ones I have ever heard. All of them were incredible, they sounded so amazing in real life. To this day, it has been my favorite concert ever.

That “effect” you’re hearing is actually Woosung’s trademark style :) In an interview, he said that he was told to correct it but he kept doing it anyway. It’s amazing and really sets him apart from other vocalists :)

Yes, that is exactly how Woosung sounds live. It gave me chills.

the main vocalist is called woosung (sammy) and that’s really his true voice and tone hahaha, the man is INCREDIBLY, there are many videos on youtube of they live performances and it’s always the same. but if you look for it, you will find some records of when his voice crack in the middle of the note, it happens sometimes ofc and he always joke about it. but almost all of they performances is just as perfect as this one.

Dojoon is always in tune and clear with his voice. Listen to Definition of Ugly as an example. Sooooooo good the contrast of Woosung and Dojoon's voice.

This is actually their debut song from 2017. I was just thinking about how young Woosung looks in this video. They have gotten so much better since then, although I watched them at Coachella a few weeks ago and after a whole year of touring the world and belting the high notes every night you could definitely hear the vocal fatigue in Woosung’s voice as a huge contrast to when I heard them live in my city last October.

I'm so excited for this! I love The Rose. They are my favorite korean band and in Korea, they are super underrated. They themselves say "we don't even think people know us in Korea" so I'm glad they travel so much to europe to do concerts. I saw them live two months ago in Berlin and it was amazing. Their live vocals and performances are incredible. Also, they as humans are just a bunch of funny idiots who don't take themselves too seriously. Their q&a was so fun! Love, Love, Love! This is actually an older song and they have even gotten better through the years. They have an interesting founding story. They even busked on the streets. Sammy lead singer started singing in church in high school! And have up on music before he sang with the already formed group because they begged him. He came to Korea from LA to do a competition and then gave up and was teaching English before he sang for one time with the band.

I think you should react to their song Baby. It really shows Woodsungs vocal uniqueness well. What you're hearing is very much his voice. He always sounds like that in their music. It's part of his charm to this group for sure. I'd also suggest their songs "back to me" And "Beautiful". Very different vibes but I think they show the range in their music and voices.

When it comes to the Korean music industry bands are seriously underrated. The Rose is easily my second favourite band right behind Day6. They have so many great songs. I would recommend ‘She's In The Rain’ and ‘Red’. Woosung is the guy you’re talking about a lot and that’s 100% his real voice.
