In this video, we are looking at the best credit card setup of 2023 which is the Chase Trifecta. I’ll go over all of the Chase credit cards that make up this setup and discuss the benefits of these credit cards to show you why I think the Chase Trifecta is very much worth it!
So the Chase Trifecta is made up of 2 no annual fee credit cards which are the Chase Freedom Unlimited and the Chase Freedom Flex, and then you can choose either the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the Chase Sapphire Reserve which both have annual fees. This creates a 3 credit card setup that will be able to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards Points that you can later redeem for a lot of value. These Chase points can be redeemed for either cash back or travel, and that flexibility is one of the main reasons why I really love the Chase Trifecta credit card setup.
Hopefully this video will help to highlight all of the Chase Trifecta benefits that make it so valuable to almost anyone with good credit. Even though this setup might be lacking in some areas when it comes to missing points multipliers in certain categories or points multipliers that overlap across credit cards, I still think that the upfront value is too good to pass up. I know that the Chase Trifecta has given me thousands of dollars in value for travel over the past few years, so I want to see other people experience the same thing!

If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to gain 70 points and what mix of cards or other? I appreciate any info if it isn't all. I"m trying to gain points as soon as I can not only build long term credit but to qualify for loan buy an inexpensive house. Critical in a dangerous situation to get stable and build bigger.

Ive stayed literally about 40 nights at hyatt hotels in the last couple of years for free because of these cards. Amex and others dont come close in the value of the chase trifecta and then transfering the points.

It'll be interesting to see if Chase makes any changes in the future with increased competition with the Cap One Bifecta & Citi Trifecta, for example. The Chase trifecta is currently my only trifecta. There’s so much value to be had from this trifecta for such a small fee with the sapphire preferred. With the amount of value from transfer partners and sign up bonuses on all cards, it’s so easy to receive net positive value for years. Great video as always.

You know I love the Chase Trifecta! It’s a setup that almost anyone can get value out of whether you’re on team cash back or travel and it makes it really simple to do so. I do hope they add a permanent in-store grocery or gas category to their cards, but the 5x bonus period on the freedom cards is a decent start. Side note: I loved the thumbnail for this one. Great work!

I have a question, how should we apply for them? I currently have only the unlimited one. 6 months since I got it and started my credit history. Should I go for the Preferred first and then the flex? or how does it work, I haven't found any clear info on it, they basically just say: Go for it, good luck on approval.

@@jorgeloco The order in which you apply isn't critical by any means. You also don't have to add all 3 if you don't want to. The term "Chase Trifecta" is something that's thrown around a lot and may make you think there's a perfect way to create the setup, but at the end of the day the trifecta can be made up of any 3 chase ultimate reward point earning cards, and you don't even need all 3. A Chase duo could serve you just as well. The main thing to keep in mind is the Chase 5/24 rule. On top of that, there are other things to note such as the fact that the CSP has a minimum credit limit of $5k, so if your other cards have much lower limits, you may want to wait a bit before applying. However, you don't have to by any means. At the end of the day though you don't have to think about it too much. Just go for the cards that make sense for you and ensure you're eligible for them by being under 5/24 before applying.

For my personal trifecta I went with the CSR given I travel more and see a whole lot more value out of $300 credit and the point totals for Flights/Hotels/Cars. Plus I get to go to the Sapphire Lounge in Boston.

Thanks for this video. This was very helpful! Though, FYI, currently Chase has an offer where if you open a Sapphire Preferred in-branch, you can get 90k points instead of 60k, which I just got. (80k for $4,000 in the first 3 months and +10k after $6,000 in the same time. I probably won't get the 90k, but +80k for the same amount is a good offer.)

My alternate of the Trifecta is swapping the CFU for the C1VX. Obviously very different cards, but the VX has 2x on all purchases as its base and although I think chase points are worth more than Venture miles, I want to have a few more transfer partner options. Also the VX pays you $5 per year have have it with the credits so its an easy justification.

Chase sapphire preferred for a limited time has a 90k bonus in the branch. 80k after spending 4000 total in the first 3 months and 10k after spending 6000 total in 6 months

Gonna have to wait a year to get under 5/24, but I definitely want to run this. Tbh I have a lot of cards at the moment, all cash back and very specialized for certain spends. Often times I find myself annoyed that I have to make sure I am using the right card out of a bunch of cards to maximize the cash back %. For me at least I would rather run three cards and get respectable returns that aren’t fully maximized but isn’t such a chore lol. More aspirational rewards like travel appeal to me as well because cash back is quite boring imo.

I’m fairly certain you can’t, the points are tied to the cardholder. For travel though you could book flights with points and then your partner books the hotel! But you bring up a good point, I’ve wondered this as well. Say you and your partner have enough points to pay for 3 nights each at a given hotel. It would be pretty annoying to make one booking for nights 1 thru 3, check out at the “end of the stay” and then check back in for nights 4-6. Now that I think about it, if you transfer out to hotel partners, I wonder if you could transfer to the same account and combine points that way. 🤔

Got the chase sapphire preferred approved last week. Get it AT CHASE, instead of the 60,000 welcome bonus online you get 80,000 points for spending $4,000 in the first 3 months and an additional 10,000 points if you spend another $2,000. Not sure when it started or when this offer would end.

As always, my answer is that it depends on the person! For me I really like Chase because of the low annual fees, high sign up bonuses, and ability to transfer to Hyatt. For other people C1 is better because they have more better spending multipliers (2x on everything with the VX, 3x on groceries, dining, streaming, and entertainment with S1) and they have some great airline partners. Personally I think a mix of the 2 is best. Getting the Chase Trifecta plus C1 VX is what I plan to do to have many options with my points!

Both are better than 30% or much high utilization, but 1% or low percentages tend to be best in my experience. Shows usage of credit while still not overusing that credit. Important to pay off in full regardless of utilization once the statement closes and before the payment due date every month. Thanks for watching!

So I've been looking at the travel protection benefits on different cards and as someone who is looking to travel, take pricey cruises etc....... Isn't that travel protection worth the card's annual fee in and of itself? The travel insurance they offer through a cruise line is hundreds of dollars per person. I've seen some higher tiered credit cards that cover up to 20K for trip cancellation or interruption. Thoughts on that? Or a video on that!!

if you are 1/24 you can easily get the CSP .. I just recently got the CFU in Feb. and 29 days later got the CSP .. 2/30 seems to be a soft rule . but to be safe from getting shut down stay within 2/6 or 4/12 .. typically a new card every 3+ months or longer to stay safe.

Pretty sure you dont since it will just become another freedom card. The sapphire (preferred) will just become the flex or unlimited if you downgrade it to a no annual card

Chase freedom flex has 5X points on rotating quarterly cataglory, the freedom unlimited has 1.5X on all purchase (preferred only has 1X), they can earn points faster on daily basis.

I’ve had the Chase trifecta for several years and actually downgraded the Sapphire card during COVID. Is it recommended to open another $95 fee Sapphire account to get another points bonus?

How much time you need to apply for the sapphire preferred i am a month in with the freedom flex the rep told me i need a line of credit of a least 5k to be approved idk if that true and ofc more time between the application and my most recently added card. But the 5k thing got me confused.

I got the flex with a promotion of 5% on groceries. But it doesn’t say anything about it on my app or the paperwork that came with it. Is that’s normal? Will it just kick it on its own?

I’m getting my second secured credit card next month will that hurt my chances of getting the chase card I don’t want to go over the chase 5 card rule in 2 months my first card will graduate and it will be my first unsecured card do secured cards count or only unsecured cards count towards the chase 5 card rule

hey guys ive had a chase freedom card for about 2 years , my score is around the 670 should i just apply for the flex card to add to my lines or wait to get over a 700 & apply for the sapphire card ?

If I was to product change a chase freedom student card to a chase sapphire preferred, I wouldn’t be eligible for a signup bonus as it’s just a product change. But if I would like that signup bonus in the future, how long would i have to wait to be eligible for it

question, would it be cheaper if you could book a hotel and get 5% cash back on it, versus transferring points at a 1:1 rate and then just redeeming points for a 1:1 cash back? at least that way you can earn an extra 5%

No need to apologize! I would like to see your take on balance transfer cards. I recently helped my fiancee get out of some cc debt by having her apply for the Wells Fargo reflect. Even for someone with debt they gave her a 15000 cc limit. I thought that was a bit odd, but I don't know much about balance transfer cards. Sounds like a great way to raise available credit though.

Typically waiting 3-6 months between any credit card applications is best. I personally got the old version of the Freedom Flex first, then 1 year later I got the Sapphire Preferred, and then about 2 months later I got the Freedom Unlimited. So there is no exact rule, it all depends on your situation (but I think it's a good idea to take it slow which is why 3-6 months between cards is a good rule to have).
