I don’t believe we should compare the two. Both of them have different style of playing the QB position. Tom was a pocket QB and did an amazing job at it. Mahomes is an outside pocket QB and uses his arms and legs very well. Tom was a great QB and nothing short of an amazing player. But they play the game with different styles.
@user-uy2dp1dh4h6 ай бұрын
Tom Brady is a traditional, under center and shotgun pocket passer. In New England they ran a play action, westcoast offense hybrid with a run and shoot offense. He had Corey Dillon,James White,Legarett Blount in other words power backs. Mahommes and the chiefs run a triple option spread adopted to NFL hybrid scheme offense. Mahommes scrambles alot more but is becoming more of a pocket bootleg out of the shot gun passer. Two very distinctive styles of play from the quarterback position. Mahommes is getting more protection and time from his offensive line but he isn't a true pocket passer yet. He's not reliquishing the run but he isn't scrambling as much anymore.

I know this is a QB film breakdown, but this is more reflective of the offense in general: even when taking kneeldowns into account, the Chiefs averaged nearly 6 yards per carry in this game. Take them out and that number is well above 7. Say what you will about the Chiefs' mediocre offensive showings this season, they gashed the Bills' front seven all night.

The Quarterback position is always going to churn. It's the progression of the NFL. Today the QB is (Rightly so) very protected now. Pat may break every record. I live in New England, and watched Tom Brady perform his "magic" time and time and time again. Tom Brady Always BEAT Patrick Mahomes in their head-to-head matchups (which were typically shootouts too), and did so even with inferior receivers to work with. This includes the AFC Championship (Patriots), and the Super Bowl (Tampa Bay) -- on the NFL's biggest stage, when the stakes were the highest . So there is no argument here. Brady was a one-of-kind Legend that always found a way to Win the game, and prevail, and come out on top -- regardless of the Talent Level around him that he was stuck with. And Tom Brady took his Teams to 10 different (TEN) Super Bowls --- an entire career's worth of Super Bowls. No one.....NO one at all --- will ever do THAT again. There is no debate -- Tom Brady is the best QB in NFL History. I don't care if Patrick Mahomes can throw the ball between his legs for 40 yards. NFL Quarterback is not about raw athleticism -- it is about READING DEFENSES, POISE UNDER PRESSURE, MAKING THE BEST DECISIONS, DELIVERING THE BALL TO THE PERFECT SPOT, BEING AT YOUR VERY BEST AT THE MOST CRITICAL MOMENTS OF THE GAME, AND TEAM LEADERSHIP. Nobody ever did that as well as Tom Brady -- and the "record" will always continue to show that. I know -- I watch him play --- and do the impossible .......game after game after game after game. Brady will never be matched!

I think Mahomes is better than Brady. But Mahomes has a long way to go to GREATER than Brady. Brady sustained a high level of play over one of the longest QB careers ever. 7 Super Bowl wins is hard to argue with. If Mahomes is still playing near this level in 10 years (and Brady improved over the last half of his career) then you can start talking about Mahomes being the greatest. But that's a long road.
@Oh_deer7777 ай бұрын
i think mahomes needs 5 superbowl victories to be considered the goat. he doesn't need more superbowl victories/appearances or the extreme longevity to overtake tom's records. but if he goes out there and wins 5 superbowl victories there's going to be a lot of people who use him as their measuring stick for greatness and that's all a goat really is.
