I just bought the Focals for $625 on Amazon. My wife of 30 years died in June; these headphones were one of the gifts to myself. I get you. I think that sound is always first priority for Focal. They have been designing insanely good (and expensive) drivers for a long time. These headphones are audiophile quality sound (plus noise cancelling and bluetooth). The emphasis is evident.

Nice comparison, I'm going to audition the Bathys, not least because the DAC mode also makes a lot of sense for my desk use case. Sorry to hear about the seperation. I was planning to pick up 'Us' from your shout out. It's been sat in my basket for weeks, but the gooperati angle was kinda putting me off.. Anyway, keep up with the great output, it'll carry you onwards and upwards 👊🏼

I just bought the Focal Bathys and, even though I don't write sad songs at the moment, I love them and I think they are worth $300 more than the airpods pro max. The only thing I will probably miss from the APM is the ease of use when pairing to Apple devices.

Great review. I’m considering the Bathys. Presently own AirPods Pro 2, which I read are better than the Maz. The airpods hurt my ears so have them as backups and also purchased a pair of B&O EX, which I find fantastic and truly can wear all day.

Have been interested in both these products, have heard a lot of good things about both of them, just can't justify the price of them for me since I already own the bose 700 and it's such a price leap to gofor either of them. Still, great comparisons between these products!

One thing I'm curious about is the spatial audio you get with the Apple. As you didn't mention, I'm guessing you didn't dive into that. Factoring that into the $300 difference could ... make a difference, I guess?

The sound quality difference alone is worth more than the 300$ difference, Crapple is massively overpriced, theyre worth about 200$ at most.

The Focals look kind of…big. Would they be akward in public due to the form-factor?

They have a slightly thicker profile than the Airpods Max, but I somehow feel less self conscious in them (I think because they feel so much more locked-in/comfortable). Your mileage may vary.

Yup… the bathys are better! They are not 350 usd more though, they cost usd 150 more… in Denmark, in 2022 and now 2023…

Overrated, overhyped headphone. Not sure what reviews are talking about when they say this is among the best sounding BT headphones. The treble is too dull, almost hollow. The bass all the way to the lower midrange is great, but falls apart after that, at least within the context of a $800 BT headphones. Maybe reviewers are just Focal fans. Maybe confirmation bias from all the hype, I don't know really. How dare some people compare Bathys to the wired Focal headphones that are clearly superior.

Man I want those focal so bad but I like to go to the gym and I’m not sure how those will handle sweat and all that salt. I’m a kind of audiophile so I like to listen to music a lot but it has to have a good sound. I have experience with focal on my truck . They sound is amazing probably below audio frog but it’s extremely hood
