Chasing a Good Day to Die by Terri Holland and Paul Larson American Native Spirituality has historically utilized Grandmother Earth's minerals and plants to commune with the spirit world to assist their healing and personal empowering ceremonies.
"Take this medicine to the white man" -Leslie Fool Bull President of the Rosebud Reservation
"Color doesn't matter, we are all one". -Anthony White Thunder Davis (Pawnee Road Chief and President of the Native American Church of the U.S.
"You cannot refuse to help anyone." -Chief Little Dove Oklevueha Seminole Tribe
This film essay is dedicated to the Native Americans who persevered to keep their ceremonies alive and to those who have been blessed to share them with non-natives. It is a narrative about a man who set out to heal his son and found beautiful beings transformed along the path circling back to self.
Indigenous peoples spirituality has been practiced in North and South America before recorded history. The fundamental premise of all indigenous spirituality is to honor and respect Grandmother Earth, Grandfather Sky and all of their descendants. The practicing of American Native Indigenous Spirituality is understood off and on Federally Recognized Indian Reservations, as the Native American Church, which has been granted exclusive federal laws to recognize the Spiritual Ceremonies and to protect and maintain access to their Sacred Ceremonial Grounds.Peyote is the indigenous cactus, and natural herbal medicine of the North and South Americans.
Peyote is the best cure for alcoholism and mental illness and cannot hurt or harm the human body. It is a powerful tonic and rejuvenative and highly alkalizing to the body. No one has ever been harmed taking peyote and even children were suckled on it's juices. A human can actually live on peyote and is a powerful food that cleanses the body, mind and spirit.
Allopathic medicine is finding many cures and uses for mescaline the derivative of peyote.Throughout the world, people of like mind are establishing branches of the Oklevueha Native American Church (ONAC) ‪nativeamericanchurches.org/‬
Each of these now 180 international branches serve the people in their area by assisting them to have access to the plants, herbs and ceremonies they need to bless their lives. Oklevueha Native American Church is the only church recognized by the US Government to carry and use peyote, cannabis, ayahuasca and other earth based sacraments. You do not have to be a Native American to join ONAC. The specific sacraments and ceremonies offered in each branch are determined by the branch leaders depending on what is most needed.
All denominations and relations and nations are welcome to join Oklevueha Native American Church. In the United States, these ceremonies and sacraments (plants and herbs) are protected by Constitutional Law from legal interference under the freedom of religion (peyote, cannabis, ayahuasca, etc.) These plants and herbs are healing allies and are not addictive and not harmful when used in ceremony and with wisdom.

Wow! Speechless! I’m so thrilled you did this video and shared the many tales of hurting people finding the wisdoms of the ancestors, humanity, Mother Earth and freedom! I wish you many blessings of light, love, prosperity, health, laughter and kindness! We are all human and subject to failure, we are so similar much more than the labels that are used to divide us! Race, religion, creed, politics, status, etc ! Thank you for sharing this beautiful message! Always my brother! Live, laugh and love, perspective and gratefulness are keys to our success!

we all got some white in us some just got a better tan. we all connected and should give spiritual medicinal sacramental plants a good open minded name. When I took psilocybin mushrooms I gained a extreme compassion for the spirits behind us I couldn't stop listening to native American flute and chanting. It was really cleansing, healing and made me feel reconected with my heart space.

It's interesting to see another perspective! My uncle lectured me about to treat everyone with respect and to help them if they want help! I believe Mother Medicine talks and guides us with every step we take on The Road of Life! These individuals asked for help and guidance and everyone of them were shown how they are and what they needed to do in order to help others and help themselves! Positivity is all I see here! Spiritual awakening is one of the most beautiful emotions to experience!

Aho Mitakuye Oyasin... This was foreseen by my ancestors that the children of the people that committed so many atrocities against my ancestors, would one day seek the guidance and direction of our ceremonies i feel good to see these prophecies come true. The creator has blessed my life and spirit to understand the power of understanding that all the races of this earth our mother were native and recognized mother earth and father sky some races are further away from these traditions but want to remember again. This video is an example of human beings being human again to erase all the lies that were told to them and the weight of abuse and hatred that this system of authority has turned people into parents make children subservient to serve the system like they have. The system of greed and authority breaks a child instead of recognizing the beauty of life and that our children are sacred and we learn from them and their spirit this has been forgotten in the majority of western cultures more respect is given to the authority of the system and its choke hold that abuse of children is a norm in most families. The great awakening needs to start with this concept honor our children by all means without exception honor their spirit as the closest thing to our creator as it is that they are the closest example of our creators love in spirit. Unite the races through love and understanding through our ceremonies that help them remember their ancestors from ancient times that were connected in the same way. Aho Mitakuye Oyasin

Well done docu-journal. I appreciate the calm frankness and realness woven all throughout this. All the people spoke so well and honest. Seems a good encapsulation of the concrete importance in the air, when you join sacred healing events like this one. I come from Ayahuasca medicine, and there are many similar elements in what comes up for people, and how it heals. Spirit healing is all about finding that root issue creating the problem in the system, which is often existing only because of denial, fear, ego, pain. Facing demons. Deep work these medicines.

We were placed here to have our fires, dances, ceremonies and to live as nature rather than fight what is natural. The world will end soon all of us will go but where we go after is up to the individuals path before they die. Before we all go we will sing our songs, dance our dances, paint our selves and go as we once were. Others will cry and run around afraid with the little time creator is allowing to live. As the lost scramble we will prepare to ascend into what we really, the stars and the space particles we were created out of. That day may not come when me or you are alive but we must prepare our children for the day so if they face it they face it!. They will not run away from the inevitable which is earth and us coming to a close. Have fun my brothers and sisters, find fun and comfort before we go.! Love is fun and contagious!

The Cacique is asking for help.......YOU MUST READ THIS Honorable Mayor, With all respect, I humbly ask that you take the time from your important duties and obligations as Mayor of Amityville in the county of Suffolk in the empire state of New York in the country of the United States of America to read, investigate, analyze, judge and meditate under a prayerful heart what I will humbly request of you in this document of mutual communication as citizens of this great nation. You might not know me by name or title, I lived in the Village of Amityville in an adequate dwelling located in the corner of Oak and Lake in front of a beautiful park with a lake. You might have heard or known my family since we have been somewhat active in the community. My ex-wife Fanny Garcia has an educations degree and was a teacher in your school system for a while. My four sons, Renzo Andres, Ramon Antonio, Fabian Luis and Miguel Angel Garcia all studied proudly in the Amityville school system, participated in sports through your local clubs, worked in your local shops and businesses and attended our local Catholic church. I myself enjoy all this with my family and loved were I lived dearly. So what happened you might ask for me to be asking you for an urgent request now? Good question but if you do not already know let me first tell you a story about who I am... When every person is born we all are innocents, tender and in need of care; don't you agree? But, even though we are tiny, fragile and with soft skins, we all carry steal a great burden into life...The previous history of the life lived by our ancestors; is this right? We only know how great or small it is when we are told of it, but we are all born innocent of the previous acts of humanity. I was born on the 27th of February in the year of our Lord 1964 the day of the independence of the great land of my people Haiti Quisqueya, today known as Haiti/Dominican Republic, to a mother named Indiana and a father named Caonabo Garcia; the last silent Cacique of my land. At that time my mother Indiana was in New York City with a child in her belly was requested to return immediately to her land because the future Cacique needed to be born in the sacred land of his ancestors. You see honorable Mayor this fact I did not know at birth a fact that a neither asked or wanted but accepted as my fate in this the land of the living. When I was a child doing childish things I did not know history, family issues, secrets, death, agony, circumstances, responsibility, honor, loyalty, consequences....and must important who was an Indian....not to mention a Cacique and what that meant until I was trained by my elders from my birth until to the 12th of December of the year of or lord 1973 when for the first time in my life I left the country of my birth and stepped upon the land of the free in the city of New York in the empire state of United States. I did not question the fact that even though my father was the inspector of the system of education in my country I never attended public school but was personally trained...I thought that was normal but was not. I learned about our role as a family descendant of the Great Caciques of the Maya / Aztec Empire, I learned how we came to this land surrounded by waters, how we lived, our culture, our civilization, our beliefs and our struggles to survive. I learn how my people one day believe in and embraced a great wondering Cacique that appeared walking the lands because he was the perfect example to imitate, not just because of his words, but because of his actions, deeds, love, and miracles performed. I was told many, many times in many different ways how as he departed towards the East hovering on top of the waters after promising that one day he will return my people without hesitation or fear, full of love and passion, entered their ships and followed him into the unexplored waters after him. My people the Mayas discovered first Cuban (The land first touched) a short distance away, when into Jamaica ( Land of the Gods because it was so beautiful ) and settled in Haiti Quisquella ( Land of high mountain rest of the Great Cacique ) stayed, my beloved Island land that I Love. There we waited for his return...and...there we became TAINOS. It was hard for me been so young to understand, cope or comprehend what that descriptive word meant.....my best meaning is and what I understood after many years is....Godlike. As the time of my departure to safety in the Super Power of the time the United States of America drew near, even though I was not fully of age, I was told our cruel reality and the dangers of revealing our well-kept secret to the world. Why? DANGER OF DEATH. My ancestral Grandfather in 1492, when we supposedly were discovered, was Caonabo, my Grandmother was Anacaona together they were the Mayor Caciques of that time, Caonabo the Cacique who became CARIBE for the first time in our history. Caribe was a descriptive word that was very hard for me to understand even to this day.... my best meaning is and what I understood after many years is....The devil incarnated. It was told to me many times to calm my young spirit down from anguish when I used to hear them speak and describe the works and magnitude of selfless brutality this sound conveyed that they assured me that it is impossible to become Caribe voluntarily. To become one is only possible if the God of the Universe himself allows it for his glory. So, why did the godhead of his people become one?; When he realized that his hope of being able to finally see with his own eyes what his people were so anciently waiting for for so long was not true but a total lie. Engulfed in deep spiritual mourning over the fact that the person that he believed to be the Great Cacique of our past turned out to be a salvage. They came not to love but to rape, not to give but to take, not to heal but to kill. So he was turned CARIBE for the first time in his life. Then he proceeded to destroy their fort “La Navidad”, killed all but a few, took all their possessions and forced the saved ones under submission to teach us how to use and operate their foreign weapons and prepared for the return of the in basils. WAR was declared. It took trickery from the Spaniards to be able to submit, capture and then kill this great man. CAONABO After he was dead his wife continued with the struggle until she was tricked once again like her husband had been tricked into committing a larger mistake; remembering the Taino’s way of life, trusting and believing their intention for peace she was convinced to gather all the Caciques of the Islands to meet in a formal consul to negotiate peace amongst them; as the Caciques were seated and waiting inside the palace meeting hall and my Grandmother was outside inquiring why was taking so long to commence the meeting and talking to them, she witnessed with her own eyes how the soldiers of the enemy closed down the assembly and put it ablaze killing all inside it. Later as an example to her people she was hanged in the great plaza, cut into pieces and her bones and flesh were displayed all over the land. Our people fell under a dark cloud of an intense feeling of mourning, anguish, and hate and now we all became CARIBE against them. Fleeing for their lives, they mistakenly forgot about her young daughter, my ancestral Grandmother who was immediately protected and concealed. later she married my ancestral Grandfather known all over the world as Cacique Enriquillo. Tainos from birth, both of them became submissive to the new order and followed willingly the newly established laws and ordinances enforced by the new rulers. Knowing who they were in secret and what they represented to the people they submitted themselves to the point of becoming slaves under the new law of retribution and repartition established by Spain. Under their new master they followed instructions and obeyed faithfully and with joy were baptized with foreign names and they would have continued like this into death, but their master committed a grave mistake - He tried to commit the sin of rape. They ran away and in hiding, under the darkness of the night he was made CARIBE and felt, this awful taste and this intense pain in the heart for the first time in his life and because he was trapped with no way to go he submitted to the evil that he felt within and declared WAR again.. The war that he and his braves orchestrated lasted for another 20 years until the King of Spain himself was obliged to offer the first peace treaty of the new world to him under Enriquillo terms in order to stop the bloodshed of his Spaniards people. The treaty was honored for a few years until they killed him, The Cacique was buried in his sacred grounds in the area of the country were he specified under his terms in the treaty. Of course, his tomb became a place of pilgrimage for our people until they neglected their contract, abounded their words sealed and signed by their Kings, desecrated his tumb and built a Catholic church on top of his bones. They did not learn from the past and Spanish blood started to inundate the land again until they discovered the perfect weapon to submit our rage and destroy our race...the biological weapon of decease used to genocide our people all over the Americas. Now you know why the sea surrounding our Islands is not called today the Taino sea but it acquired the name of the Caribbean Sea because of all the years of suffering by millions of people from both sides of the conflict shedding their blood-fighting courageously for a just and Godly cause... to protect the lives and future of our people in the continents. When our people finally realized that in reality under the disguise of evil came to our land the Great Cacique that all along we all have been waiting for attached to wood posts poring his divine love to all the believers we received peace. ...( cont. upon request at renzocgarcia@gmail.com

I like the doc, but I think it’s weird to call it “Native American” Church when there are no Natives in sight. I understand that the tradition is Native but it doesn’t make sense to call it that and profit off their name and “sacred” reputation. What are you doing for the people that you got the idea from? How did this church start? Did natives teach you how to do it? Did they allow you to start a church? So many questions.

So its just as powerful We all carry this knowledge some of us are in different stages of awakening our souls into the power of our minds The message is clear in-all books United as one Nation We are all equal While we continue to think as superiors to others prejudice will win Hate will win We all must know God ancestors spirits souls all how ever u call it are from sane place Every one has right every one can do this While we hold grudge hold hate remember the bad we cannot be at peace those who are like this are same as the bad people that committed the crimes The earth belongs to all just cause some committed crimes to the natives are blaming or saying all white people are all at fault they should know that many crimes were committed to many natives of different parts of the earth by greedy people who happen to share color of skin By judging all whites as the aggressors you become same as those who did aggression to natives In my family we practiced many similar things that were taught to us by our ancestors yet we were from other native lands

I see a lot of hatred here for the white man. Let me point out that I'm only 48 years old. the white people of today had nothing to do with what happened to the indegionous people's we are only the remnant of those people. what we need now is healing for all people because we truly are one. Only by forgiving can we be forgiven. The spirit has been calling to me for quite some time. in ignorance and fear I've looked for answers everywhere and found none. I'm going to join the onac right now. I applaud James Mooney for what he is doing. one love, one family, one destiny.

I dont know much about proper peyote ceremony at this point , I do have to agree though with What Rollin had to say . With no excuse for what some white people chose to do to others , what did happen is not the fault or actions of all white people in those days of the past or now . I use to be more prejudice than now about white people in general and thought in a way that put all one people into a stereotype that is never true when anybody thinks all one people are all the same . I am glad now to see each person on an individual basis , I am responsible for my own actions , I am not responsible for other peoples wrong regardless of what color they are . When we look at white people and think that they all represent genocide is wrong , The brainwashing is done to all people , it will take all people to heal the planet . A lot of white people dont like what some white people did .True Its is a white new world order that is effecting the planet , not all white people want to be apart of those values . The new world order is a corporation owned by a few , most white people are slaves in it and off it most are not owners of it . All kinds of people are speaking out , standing up , educating , and sharing from all over the world .With out hate or prejudice just facts , in my opinion and understanding most of the crimes against humanity go back to The Vatican , the owner of the District of Columbia inc , doing business as Washington DC . They succeed at leading the world into its demise and slavery thru contracts , Please look Up ANNA REITZ a cannon lawyer to the Pope who came out to tell the truth and is educating many people . Research the The History of the District of Columbia and how to end Luciferian contracts and a 48 page document from the last Pope called Motu Proprio written in his own words , its very imprtant to know about in order to help shut down all the false government and fraus in America .Thanks for looking Peace to all !!!!

For people who believe only Indians have the right to peyote, do all American Indians have the right to use it, or only those from within its natural range, i.e. Huichol, Apache, etc. What about the Aleut, Guarani, Carib peoples, do they also have an inherent right? It doesn't make sense for Plains Indians like the Sioux guy at 37:00 to say that they have an inherent right over everyone else. I don't question the Sioux right to use it and they know what they're doing with in their ceremonies, but they get peyote through importation and trade, not through natural gathering. By that guy's own philosophy only Southwest and Mexican Indians have the inherent right.

+Joe littlehawk That's BS. First, most ceremonies are open to whites. And I'm talking about the traditional ceremonies, not the ones we see in these videos. And race can't be defined. Are Chukchi and Ket people the same race as American Indians? If so, then you would have to ask which of the myriad Siberian peoples are the same as they are, and then which of those people are the same as other Russians. It's impossible. There were black indigenous people in the Caribbean and in Brazil; do they have the right? I am mostly white but have a very small amount of American Indian blood; am I still 'out'? Is anyone with 24.99% or less also out? Everyone has traded and exchanged ideas. The bottom line is that only certain tribes lived in the Peyote home range, and by that logic only they have an inherent right. Either that, or it's everyone. You can exclude whomever you want from your ceremonies, but it has nothing to do with an inherent right.

s james What are you talking about? I never said the host or leader of a a particular ceremony does not have a right to exclude others, whether it's because they're white or any other reason. Sometimes meetings might only be open to family or friends of the host. I just said there's no inherent right to generally exclude whites from ceremonies, and because of that, in 90-95% or more of ceremonies, whites are welcome (if they are invited by whoever is hosting the ceremony). But like I said multiple times, if you're going to come up with a general rule, it has to be either only Indians from peyote home range, or everyone. And I do agree with the guy in the video's other point that certain people are 'bastardizing' the ceremonies like he says. And I also already said that the ceremony shown in this video is not a traditional ceremony.

Austin Tracy The NACNA is a corporation that was formed in the 1950s and is not in any way the 'official' Native American chuch like the Vatican is for the Catholic church (even though it claims to be). NAC-structured peyote ceremonies long predate the NACNA. The NAC is a religion not an entity or institution. There are many NAC organizations and all have equal standing with the NACNA. The NACNA is not above them and their recognition does not make or break other NAC groups. Anyway, the NAC of US is the first and largest organization and they allow non-Indians

Joe littlehawk I never said you were Siberian I said Indians came from north and northeast Asia (i.e. Siberia and Kamchatka) ~12,000 to 15,000 years ago or at least that's the leading theory. Maybe it's true, maybe not. What I did say is that once you go outside the peyote home range and the people who are from there, it's impossible to draw lines and say who has the right to use it and who doesn't. Which means either everyone does or no one does
