Hi from the UK, I just wanted to say thanks for your videos. I grew up on a livestock farm and have been a shooter from a very early age, still do a lot now. I’ve never been in to trapping but I thoroughly enjoy your content, you are a true professional and share my respect and love for the countryside and everything in it all be it the other side of the world. People struggle to understand how you can care about wildlife and kill it at the same time, guess it’s a tricky one to get your head round with limited information, that’s why people like you do so much to help others understand. I love to see your bond with your dogs too. Keep it up and thanks for sharing.

Glad Skunk is OK... seems like he had a rough week... Australia is a tough place for animals of all sort but particularly our domesticated ones. I lost my cat today to what we think was a brown snake bite... 4 days short of 12 months old. We thought there were some snakes around the house because all the animals were generally sticking inside and acting unusual. A neighbour was also killed by a brown snake about 2 months ago and another neighbour lost a friend in Brisbane to one too.. both were bitten stepping out the back door. Stay safe everyone....

What has surprised me is the manner your Border Collies chase down pigs, amazing…What is very impressive is the training you have done with your dogs and the way they “work” for you. Interesting about some dogs being aware of cameras. There is a train of thought on some Yowie, and in the US, Big Foot sites, that the reason there are no definable pic’s or videos of these creatures, despite records of thousands of sightings, is that the creatures are aware of the infrared signal used to trigger the cameras. I can’t see any reason why certain dogs don’t share similar characteristics.

Skunk you're a true four legged warrior mate. Need to eliminate every ghost ASAP before they start breeding more future ghosts in a few months. Kill the problem before they become our problem.

Again great work Clark City People have no idea what wild ( Dogs ) can do to People living on the land I have see up 80 sheep killed in one night mainly the Wild Dogs did it for fun. I’m from the uk and worked for a grain harvesting. Contractor in 1985 ended up about an hour north of Dingo off the cattle road. Must be near where you are as you mention Rockhampton. One paddock of 1200acres after planting they said they shot 120 pigs from the chopper. The property ran down to the Makay river as I remember. Keep up the great vids

Those dog's probably catch a glimpse of the inferred from those trail cameras. Dog's are hardie as you know, Skunk will be fine.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that dogs can scence the electrical field around the camera.

Clark - you legit can't tease us with a casual reference to seeing a 18 to 20 foot croc and not give us anything further. The largest croc ever recorded was 20 feet... I feel like there's a Netflix doco in this for you if it's true!

Dogs and foxes can definitely pick up on cameras, I have so many videos of them shying from a camera.

Now here is something for You Clark I am sure you have been to Tassi your opinion on is there any Tassi Tigers still alive. I believe there is thousands of them, they will only see them on Trail cameras in some territory that no man has walked on. In Tassi that’s a lot of places. Where trail cameras are concerned, what I think's going on is that the camera has an infrared cut filter in front of it, on a hinge. In daylight that filter stays where it is, to give colour images. At night the camera moves the IR cut filter out of the way of the lens then fires an infrared flash to take a picture. What the dog perceives is a loud *click* that isn't natural then it sees this thing suddenly glow red. All very dodgy and very suspicious. I've seen numerous instances where a fox is looking straight at the camera when it goes off, and I'm convinced that this is what is going on. Fox shooters in the UK also swear blind that foxes can see 850 nm infrared light, albeit dimly, and do react if you suddenly turn on an illuminator. The trick is to have the illuminator on all the time, then it is part of the background and not something suddenly scary and new. Where trail cameras go, I reckon you might end up doing a little surgery on them to remove the cut filters, so they don't make noise at night.

Some animals pick up the IR from the cameras. Rabbits can see it as well.

Ole skunk having a rough week. He sure is a good boy though.

Check the lymph glands under the point of the jaw against the neck on Skunk immediately. If swollen, vet time. Probably way off, but have had issues when a dog suddenly drops his game. This trapping effort shows the issues with eradicating to some extent. When the last one is the only important one. Leaving the hard ones to train up the replacements isn't being thorough, it's farming dogs. Questioning what's needed to get those 3 & getting them will have subsequent replacements hopefully naive & easy for next round, & a finished job. If farmers don't allow ineffective operations/hunters to stir them up by shooting while they are having a spell from attention. When doing singles (& that's all ever had a go at, & very few), a bitch on heat in a cage was used as bait (pre PETA days). Dogs persisted coming back, a bitch only visited once, so only one chance. Set several traps for double leg catches (Lanes Aces). So heat bitch urine may be an option. Unbaited sets on wet nights on tracks in the grass another, less wary in the wet. Animals seem to sharpen up after a 1080 drop (for possums here), and following immediately might be a mistake? A month or so after survivors have settled down is worth a thought. Can long life baits be left with unset traps for familiarity? If pig & dog is a pattern, bait the pig & shoot the dog first? Pigs are creatures of habit, the cameras will tell if that could be exploited. Shooting is usually the last resort, following thermal hunters is poor sequencing. The real last tidy up used here last century & before was killer dogs. Again current ethics may make that unacceptable. Apparently the dogs loved it. And had to be euthanised once the wild dogs were exterminated, dogs trained for that don't make good pets for little old ladies if they get off the chain.
