Chasing the Magic - chapter 2: Low Levels and Long Leaders

In this chapter, myself and Hannah Clement head away around midday towards a destination that we suspect will hold some large brown trout that are still about in the hangover of the previous Mega Mouse season. We stop on the way to fish a lovely river for some rising fish, before continuing on towards bigger and better things the following day.
The next day was to prove very fruitful indeed!!

Hi Mike, what a water and what a pool. And then this magnificent specimen of a Brown Trout. I can only marvel and congratulate you. And for Hannah it must have been a great feeling to have caught this chunk on a dry fly. Great! For me, the lengths of the leaders are still more than amazing. Another great film from you.

how are they not spooked in the beginning?.. Nothing you can hide behind.. and it looks like its 3-4 meters away they take the fly.. surely they have seen you?

It's about working out angles and light plus surface texture. You get a feel about what a trout can see given all the conditions. Trust me, if these big boys knew i was there they would have kept those big mouths shut...
