In this video I travel to the town of Escalante, Utah where I camp on BLM land and hike the very beautiful and scenic Lower Calf Creek Falls trail. This is a trail I've wanted to hike for some time. The scenery was gorgeous along the entire route to the jaw dropping beautiful 126 ft waterfall.

My husband and I dreamed about going to places like that we moved to Arkansas from California and we were going to start our journey here to visit and other places in UA. But unfortunately, he passed away from Covid in 2021 and I feel strongly to do this journey even though he’s not with us. I would like to do this to honor him. Once again, I love your videos.

@@CatherineGregoryAdventures Among the "wilderness lessons" that my grandfather taught me from childhood into my late teens was to make noise so as to not surprise creatures with no sense of humor. Like snakes, skunks (Especially Rattlers and Water Moccasins) , etc. Funny thing is, I've yet to see a snake or skunk on what is now my farm. However, in Northern Virginia, I've seen both! Only downside is that you miss seeing the animals "being natural", as he used to put it.

Did that same hike several years back. The highway 12 drive between Escalante & Boulder is stunning. They used to film a lot of car commercials in that section.

So fun to watch you retrace another hike I've done. I was telling the computer screen, "there are petroglyphs just up ahead!" but only my dog was listening. The petros in Escalante are invisible until I stare long enough and then "poof!" there they are, where they have been all along, for a long, long time. I don't know what it is about this hike, but I could tell exactly where you were on map at each point. It's an impressive place and your episode captures it perfectly.

I have toured Escalante & Grand Staircase but did not go to the waterfall as that year had huge rain falls and a lot of trails were closed. But Utah is so beautiful and all these southern parks are just breathtaking. Thank you for the post.

It's been 12 years since I've been there last, but watching the video it feels like last week. Also if you want good pictures you have to get there early to catch the light, it's in shadow most of the day.
