Nice video put mine my mind to ease a little bit on get my car cert for 8.50 so did he say you need two bar on the 8.50 car

One on each side. 1-1/4” we put the wrong size in by mistake so rather than cut and grind it out we just added a second one of the correct size.

Was first car's cage CM or MS? Congrats on certs and thanks for posting.

Both are C/M. 7.50 cert on the comet 8.50 on the falcon thanks for watching.

I had a question what’s the name of the tool he is using to measure the tubing thanks in advance

One is a gauge for the outside diameter of the tube the other is a sonic tester to check the thickness not sure exactly what they’re called maybe you can call the NHRA tech line and ask.

What’s the cost for having it certified and how do you go about setting it up?

Look up NHRA ,call your respective District office . Ask for your district inspector , then call him and set it up .about 200

Did he actually put a 8.50 sticker on a car that was missing two bars? That defeats the purpose of "the sticker". Too funny.

I picked up a new bare chassis recently. The guy mentioned he didn't paint/coat it because it still needed to be certified. I would like to paint it for protection. Seems to me, from this video, the inspector can measure with paint on the tubes. Is there any location where they expect the tubing to be bare during the inspection? Thanks.

@@Jvcomet Thanks for the quick reply. My chassis is in Southern Virginia (Bristol area). I also live in Mooresville, NC. The chassis is a rear engine dragster built around 2007 but never completed/raced. It is chromoly tube built by a reputable builder. It has slight surface rust that I would like to scotchbrite off then paint.

Tim O'Neal ok yes you can get in contact with NHRA call them and they’ll give you a person in your area that will answer all your questions before he comes to you or you bring it to him. Good luck with it sounds like your gonna have a cool build .
