The cards floating with the words are super helpful! Sometimes I get lost by those unknown words and is really cool see them appear in the right moment. They keep me interested in the dialogue and I don't even have to use the cc. Fantastic! 😁🙌🏻

@@GraceMandarinChinese Super helpful! 謝謝!Also, the information about the QR code tickets - I need to get myself a receipt app! Would you recommend one? Usually I'm just travelling for work, so don't need to use the garbage trucks, but the music they play is quite funny to me and I was confused what the noise was the first time I arrived in Taiwan. I like how in the 7-11 you can ask them to microwave your food for you (or add hot water to noodles! So convenient and something I'm not used to in the UK!

我去年去台灣住了半年學華語並旅行。我覺得是我一生最喜歡的經驗!這樣的視頻非常有用和方便練習聽力,覺得會幫助中級的學生進步很多!我好期待下一集! I was told that in Taiwan it is polite to pay for things by giving cash with both hands. It's a really nice gesture of etiquette that I found people appreciated from a foreign visitor.

I enjoyed watching your video, Grace !You asked how some things are regulated in other countries. Well, in Germany we also have garbage trucks, but we don't wait for these trucks, we have garbage cans at every house. The days for collecting the garbage are fixed and you have to put the garbage can by the roadside in the morning, where the workers empty it into the bin lorry. The special thing here, however, is that we have different colored garbage cans for different types of waste. There is organic waste (brown garbage can), recycling waste (yellow garbage can), paper waste (blue garbage can) and residual waste (black garbage can). This is very time-consuming and expensive, but is intended to reduce waste.

Thank you Grace 老師 this new format is so much better. It works for both beginners and intermediate students. As an upper intermediate learner it’s quite hard to find the right listening materials sometimes as a lot of teachers cater to beginners and they speak too much English. Especially if I want to listen to more Taiwanese accent/words. I only found out about the 發票 recently when I went to Taiwan, we gave away our receipts. Also regarding the 飲料店 we also noticed that there are many restaurants who don’t offer drinks so I guess it’s quite handy to be able to buy drinks nearby, even though it’s not healthy but a lot of people here also often drink soft drinks/soda so …. I guess it’s the same everywhere.

Where I live in Australia we don't get garbage collection at all (and have to pay for the tip!! What are we even paying rates for?) so having to wait on the curb for a garbage truck would actually be a massive improvement lol
@genace
@genace Ай бұрын
I think it depends. If you’re busy with studies or meeting deadlines, it’s convenient to just leave your garbage outside for pickup. But when you’re not busy, then Taiwan’s style looks more enjoyable. I think it also keeps the streets cleaner. Cities in the States often have garbage bags left on the sidewalks, which is less sanitary. Socializing with neighbors would be fun, but I think the sound and look of the truck add to the experience too. The music can brighten your mood and the trucks look prettier than the ones in the States. They’re also yellow, the color most associated with happiness. If the US implemented something similar, it would feel weird to socialize next to our plain, ugly garbage trucks😂 I would definitely need nicer trucks with music haha. Anyway, I think “Chat in Chinese” would make an excellent video series! I’m sure there are plenty of interesting topics to discuss and it’s a great way to teach vocabulary on different topics.

Observation: people in Taiwan seem more willing to stand in line for a long time for things! I have difficulty reconciling how given how busy people are and the average incomes people have, people can afford the time and money to do many things in Taiwan. 1:18 I think the receipt lottery idea is a great idea and would help countries keep businesses more honest about reporting revenue for taxes. 3:07 7-eleven definitely provides many more services in Taiwan! I wish the ones in the US had more financial and mail services. 4:37 Have more people in Taiwan been carrying around larger insulated water containers such as Yeti and Stanley-branded tumblers? Would be great to always have ice cold beverages on the go, and avoid the health issues and cost! of buying so much milk tea 5:30 I never noticed this! Do people do the opposite and put a 不乖 where they don't like someone? 6:19 Definitely more convenient to not have to bring garbage to the garbage truck! Unless things have changed, don't people need to buy special garbage bags too? More convenient to have garbage trucks pick things up at your house or building, though I could see how people bringing out garbage could save the town money, decrease outdoor pests that eat trash, and motivate people to generate less garbage.

This video was awesome listening practice! 🤓👏 谢谢Grace老师 When I lived in Beijing, the garbage trucks in my neighborhood played Christmas music all year long😅 I made a few videos about my experience with culture shock in China (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b7OlmJR7vLO0hZc.html) mostly, my experiences in Beijing, but then some things I noticed also while traveling around China. Unfortunately, I have yet to visit Taiwan, but when I do go, I will buy some guai-guai 😋
