Stephanie & Philip from ‪@TheChateauDiaries‬ join Vivienne & Simon of ‪@ChateauLove‬ as garden party guests of the owner of the Château du Clos Lucé (former home of Leonardo da Vinci) for the grand opening of its new interactive art gallery. It is a magnificent day filled with Renaissance art, decor, food, inventions, gardens, and a great deal of frivolity!!
ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, pets, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 20 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Thankyou so so much for sharing your visit. You have made me discover a new inspirational hero. For me to learn more about. Until now I was only interested in William Morris's art. Now I'm fascinated by all his art and inventions. I find myself wanting to know more about him. And what else he invented. I remember being told about him during secondary school early years. But because I was so young. I didn't appreciate him. And I forgot all about him. But now I will be searching for books about him and his works. So a big thank you x

L.A. Vie anRose is a shop here that has lovely undergarments, swimwear and nightwear, one of my favourite places to Christmas shop for the women I buy for. The Chateau was beautiful - Leonardo was such an incredible talent for his time - I always find it quite amazing that he could paint the ethereal Mona Lisa and then come up with designs for tanks, machine guns etc.! I really enjoyed seeing Leonardo’s ideas for the future. He was truly a man ahead of his time so intuitive and creative. As I watched I realized he was such an innovator and gifted man.His ideas laid a platform and the blueprints of all these wonderful machines to come about. What a magnificent mind. I feel I just watched what you call his scientific laboratory for the future. But most of all when I saw that machine it looked like a flying saucer it was almost a replica of the landing module for John Glenn to land in the water from the moon. It seems to me that might have been the last of his ideas we used. Thank you for taking us around it was inspiring. 🌈💕🇨🇦

I love Clos Lucé and remember the first time I visited France on a school 2 week exchange at the age of 10 😱! We 'did' the Loire Châteaux as we were based in Tours. The one I remember most is Clos Lucé as I was in awe of Leonardo da Vinci. I have recollections of other châteaux of course, but not as vivid as this one. We took our children there a few years ago, but I would love to return and really explore Amboise too. Just stunning 😍

Since my first enthralling visit to Chateau Clos Luce, 35 yrs ago I was in love with this Chateau and Leonardo Da Vinci. Thank you so much for this fabulous visit of the new beautiful gardens and art gallery although I find it a strange outlook to make fun of people's noses in portraits and the flaws in inventions of a genius. The ending of the vlog was most surreal and peaceful with the beautiful sky filled with balloons and the gorgeous gardens empty of tourists. Great vlog.

What a destination to explore!!! The new Da Vinci Gallery was superb. In the Da Vinci workshop, the camera picked up the small horse sculpture that was eventually made in its gargantuan size in Grand Rapids, Michigan and resides in the Meijer Gardens.

This was another wonderful video! I've watched all of your videos by now (haven't commented on all of them, eventhough I had so much fun watching them and thought of so many things I would like to write down in a comment... maybe I will do so at a later time 😉). It was great to see the museum of Leonardo. They did an awesome job bringing his life and inventions come to life. I also liked to see this event from your and Simon's point of view, considering that I've seen Stephanie's version a few weeks ago. Thank you for creating this episode and putting all your time and effort in our enjoyment 😉. I hope another episode will follow soon.
