Often these 7 boys cut up and talk all day long. This is what it's like on a quieter day. Still chatter just not as overwhelming.

My parents have a boy. He is wonderful. How do you know whether a ringneck is a girl?
@annmaryjohn32583 жыл бұрын
Look at their neck. If it has a ring like mark around the neck, it is a male. If there is no dark line around the neck, it is a female. You can look in this video and see the ring around their necks. They're all male.
@mukfute863 жыл бұрын
just curious, have you clipped all your ringnecks?
@ChatterboxParrots3 жыл бұрын
All but 2 have had their wings clipped at some time or another. We clipped our 2 oldest for a couple years but did allow flight once grown out for many months in-between. Some were clipped when we got them. Awhile after we rescued our 6th ringneck and he underwent a wing amputation we trimmed some back as they were flying to his playstand and he would spook easily and fall. During that time it gave me the opportunity to work with some of the other ones to train them not to fly to his stand. Since all birds flights have grown out. All of them fly except for our amputee because well he only has 1 wing. We decided from then and moving forward that only a trim would be sufficient. When I say trim I mean not a full clip to where they can't fly at all, they still fly (even with lift upwards) they just aren't jet flyers if that makes sense. We want to avoid kitchen accidents. Once we build an outdoor aviary for them to openly fly outdoors then we will not trim anymore.

@@ChatterboxParrots your reply made my day! I'm sure you have a beautiful aviary in your mind. All of them are so beautiful. I'm sorry to hear about the 6th one. What's his/her name? Wish him/her a speedy recovery! Have a good one!
@ChatterboxParrots3 жыл бұрын
@@mukfute86 My pleasure. It's hard to find time to respond to everyone on all our social media but I do try my best when I have the availability. Our 6th one is named Cypress. He was named after our state tree. His mother bit off half of one of the wings shortly after hatching. More of his story can be found in a video I posted not long ago called "Getting to know our flock". I believe his part is the longest due to his story. His surgery was in 2019 and has fully recovered so thank you. He still spooks but not nearly as easily. It was a pleasure to rescue him and I would do it again given the opportunity. Though he is handicapped he is full of life and thrives well given the circumstances. Thank you for watching. ❤
