You can also sell in public! I can't believe I forgot that. Craft fairs, conventions, local shops, farmer's markets, etc. But that's not technically online...

I technically started my Etsy shop before doing the farmers market, but I’ve made sales at the farmers market, whereas I haven’t yet online.

I’ve had a lot of success selling my crochet (finished stuffies) directly through KZfaq videos. I just invoice & ship through paypal which has been great since it means no extra fees towards selling platforms. I’ve actually had way more success with it than etsy for example.

Your video made me feel better. For several weeks I have been afraid of what is happening on Etsy regarding blocking shops. But less than before. Just a few days ago, I signed a contract with a company known in my industry, which makes a kit of products to make one of my patterns (there is a plan for further patterns, if this one proves successful, and apparently it is already selling), we have also started affiliate cooperation, and since I already have my own website, I can also advertise their other products needed to make my patterns there. I am also talking to another company that may regularly order custom-made designs from me. All this results in greater peace of mind 😁

Solid advice, thank you :) . BTW, just yesterday I learned that Patreon now lets people (if the Patreon account owner wants to allow that) to buy an item isolatedly without the need to be subscribed (a bit like gumroad and etc). I think that is a win-win for patreon members/users and the patreon account owner. Yet though I am thinking of setting up the 3 big platforms for this : Patreon, Ko-Fi and Gumroad.

I've only been on Etsy for 6 years. I want to try other platforms etc. My lack of "tech savvy" holds me back. Affiliate marketing/sales sounds interesting but not sure I understand what it is or how to do it!lol. I love working from home but need to bring in more revenue

Affilaite marketing is good if you have an audience or a blog that you send traffic to. I don't do affiliate links on my product website, since I want people to buy my products, not affiliate links there.

This is great to know, something to aim for! But it’s also good to know how much of your income is from your product based business, and that that is enough on its own, because I always have wondered about people who are handmade entrepreneur coaches, or Etsy coaches, or whatever, if they really know what they’re talking about when they’re telling me how to be successful selling my handmade products… Like are they really successful selling handmade products??? or are they just successful telling people to sell handmade products? 😂 Knowing this about you makes you very trustworthy

I agree, too, I have a feeling that a lot of people have high income but low profit margins when it comes to product sales because they use so many ads to get to those high income levels.I've heard people say that their profit margins are about 10%, so you'd better have a ton of gross income if that's all you're keeping.

Do you have a video on how you file taxes each year with multiple streams of income? If not, would you consider making one? This has been the biggest reason I have not branched out past a single side hustle (Etsy shop).

No, I don't do anything tax-related because it's something that I'm not trained to do and it's legal advice! It's not hard, though, you just have to actually keep track of the forms that you get at the end of the year and do your bookkeeping throughout the year.

What site is the best to use for your own? And what do you do about a legal privacy policy? I am just starting out and did make a square space account however i am unsure on what to do for the legal privacy policy and do not have much money right now to pay 100+ dollars for someone to write something up. Ive look at many videos and they all say the same thing, get your own site and make sure you have a legal written policy. Any tips?

The site itself can be anywhere...Depending on how techy you are, you'll probably want to go with a templated site that's specifically for ecommerce, like Shopify, Squarespace, or Wix. There are a lot of them. For the privacy policy, you basically have to say what information you collect from customers and what you do with it. If you read other privacy polices online you can come up with something that's clear. The importnat thing is to not collect customer information if you don't need to, and to handle the information that you do collect correctly. Don't sell emails, that kind of thing. You just need to tell people what you do with their information.

I'm considering offering a monthly subscription on my website where i sell products too. I already pay for it and want to direct people there instead of using different methods. Would it be too cluttered for customers to have everything in the same place?

If you have a way to put a password-protected section on your website it should be fine.

Regarding the thumbnails: to me, it appears that the background colors match the merchant you are speaking about (orange for Etsy, white for goImagine). The subject of the video is written clearly, like a chapter heading, for easy reference. They are no-nonsense, just like your advise. (This is my first guess).
