Absolutely, and Meagan doesn't stand a chance especially in her finding freebies book. She thinks she's so special, but nobody knew of her before Harry. Every time I hear her voice it makes me nauseous , she doesn't have an original thought in her body, and I can't wait for her so called popularity to be over and we never have to hear of her again. Can't stand her and her b******t. Edit, yes I purposely spelled the books name that way, I think that's what it should've been called. Lol

Actually I did enjoy this talk...Explains much about old money verses new... As for Meghan...She's over-exposed and in over her head...She doesn't take the time to study the history on anything...She breezes through a couple articles on the internet and then botches the history in short promotion clips.. When she stated women of color where not involved until decades after our 19th Amendment was passed, I was stunned by her ignorance...If she had scrolled down the page of website articles after googling the subject she would have found "WVCI" FAQ page that tells the historical facts. www.2020centennial.org/faq#firstquestion Hollywood is a small tight knit community for the most part...Above the line Producers, Directors, Writers, and Actors most academy award winners are not impressed with her, the new mansion (as they all have them) or her flaunting her titles as if she's better than them. Most of these people admire HM for her impeccable manners, class and service to her country and do not approve of Meghan disrespecting any of RF on her personal quest for fame.

I loved your comment. I am a producer and find her to be a crass, ignorant, fortune climber, power grabbing, lying person. She is NOT a lady and tries to act like she is so intelligent and working for the little people. Simply disgusting. I am so disappointed in Harry for choosing her as his bride. I would even have been disappointed in him using her as a itsy bitsy fling. Having to see and hear about her constantly is getting really boring. I will be glad when the media tires of her and pray that Harry will come to his senses and divorce her.

What a lovely video today especially since I’m of the generation who remember Barbara Cartland and her daughter very well. The world has been less ‘pink’ since she passed away! There was always a Pekingese dog on her lap, I do prefer Cavalier King Charles spaniels, though. Your assessment of what is the recipe for a perfect royal spouse is brilliant. I believe we are very blessed with Catherine and Sophie and, from what I read, the Queen appreciates them too. These insights into well known people of a previous generation are absolutely fascinating and entertaining and all told with good humour. May we have some more?

Lady Georgie, your stories are so interesting...I could listen to them all day! Misha, you are a gentleman and a great interviewer for your Mum! I enjoyed this video....Lady C., the younger generation does not know Princess Diana the way that we baby boomers do. Can you do a video about Princess Diana as a young girl being raised an aristocrat in the backyard of the Royal family, as the mother of 2 young princes, including the heir to the throne, the questions about Prince Harry’s paternity, as first wife of Charles, her role as a Royal, and her tragic death the same week as Mother Teresa, who she admired, and how her passing put the entire world in mourning. Do you think that her death was arranged by Prince Philip, or it was it truly an accident,...

I heard that Barbara Cartland grew up in a very ordinary suburban semi but decided she wanted to be posh so she started her writing and made sure she left her petit bourgeois background well concealed in the past. As far as Raine was concerned Barbara Cartland was like a kind of society stage mother and she certainly did her job well, because in her old age, Raine was famously known as "the triple countess" having married two English earls and a French count. Even though Princess Diana loathed her as a child or teenager she is supposed to have admired Raine's spirit and they got on fantastically during the period when Diana was estranged from her mother Francis Shand-Kydd. A fascinating story. I got most of these details from a Channel 4 documentary about Raine, it was fantastic, showing how well she ran the Althorp gift shop to bring in cash for the Spencer family's roof. Mohammed al Fayed gave her a job as a non-exec director or whatever it's called, in short she worked at Harrods and loved operating the tills at sales time. Whatever her faults may have been she was certainly a woman and a half!

You bring these characters alive for those of us who've often read about these people. It is obvious to most of us that the articles we've read were often contrived to create a fantasy of sorts and do not depict the real character of these people. I like hearing the more authentic stories which gives me an opportunity to see them as real people dealing with issues and protocol in a world where, seemingly, that's all that matters. We don't have royalty in the United States so for us it is hard to understand the structure of the monarchy and the surrounding classes. However at the end of the day we're all just people aren't we? Well done once again.

She wrote about 750 books which sold at least a million copies each (i.e. a total 750 million sold, some say she sold over a BILLION books). Loved it! Barbara Cartland & “Acid”, Raine, LoL! I also enjoyed Priceless Margaret, last time. You mentioned Lady Mountbatten, how was she? She had many affairs while married to handsome, Lord Louis. I’ve read that the Queen Mother didn’t approve of her. Had you ever met Edwina Mountbatten? Maybe not, she died in the ‘60’s. I’d be interested in any thoughts you have on her. Inspite of the open nature of their marriage, Lord Louis was devastated upon her death. There are those who think Edwina had an affair with Nehru but her daughter, Pamela has debunked those rumors since she said, Nehru had a deep respect & friendship with her father, Lord Louis & that he would never disrespect a friend that way by sleeping with his wife! Pamela also says that she herself was usually the 3rd wheel on the time the 2 spent together & it was a Plutonic friendship, a love that was not physical.

Lady C, Have you met anyone in the Wegman family? They still own property in Jamaica. Danny married Paula Kerr Jarrett from Montego Bay last year. We reside in the same upstate NY town as the Wegmans. Peggy played golf with our ladies group for several years. She’s in her nineties now. To be sure, Will & Kate who are naturally more sedate are getting favourable comparisons with the increased hooplah. No doubt a good segment has empathy for Charles as well, amid the self-pitying noise. I just feel that QE2 however deserves a more dignified dusk, and I hope they rally to let her be without having to deal anymore with cracked-up publicity.

When she isn't anywhere in family geanologies, that's another clue. When the supposed blog is full of dubious information that reads like. Fantasy novel....yeah thats a hoax. When the supposed daughter talks a out the very thing people wring their hands over....yeah...thats a hoax. If I can figure this out so can you. I have worked for many years as a professional historian and genealogist and by logical extension, therefore, a huge fan of Lady C. I would like to ask if Lady C is aware of the rumor, circulated for decades in Catholic circles, that various high-ranking members of the royal family have been received into full communion with Rome, albeit secretly. I have frequently heard it said that both Queen Victoria and Queen Mary were closet Catholics.
@yorkshirerose6334
@yorkshirerose6334 3 жыл бұрын
Yes some were but in modern times if you become Catholic you renounce your position in line to the throne. This happened in recent times with the Duchess of Gloucester who left the C of E when women were made priests and was received into the RC church.

The problem with royals exclusively marrying other royals was that it produced an international royal class across Europe, and it also meant that in many cases the royals had little to no connection with the people they reigned over. And I think that's one factor that helped so many of the European royal houses to fall after the First World War.

Why does no one ever mention Diana’s affairs when Charles and Camilla are always lambasted for their affair?
@wandabailey7870
@wandabailey7870 3 жыл бұрын
Basically,due to the fact,that so many others could never imagine the truths/ facts to revealed about their " precious Diana whom could do absolutely no wrong " .. Heaven forbid that she is / were to be seen,in an " ugly light " . Heaven firbid that her so called , " stellar reputation " be tarnished ,to have a black cloud simmering over her head ,over her name .A blemish being recognized as to the " real Diana ". Remember ,others are hurting wanting her to always be known as well asbeing seen as " the victim " in the three -- way marriage . Oh ,somewhat teminds me,of how Rachel Meghan Markke & Harry & M A. are in their marriage .

Diana only started once she realised her marriage was doomed and Prince Charles was in love with Camilla. Diana didn’t stand a chance against Camilla so she wisely moved on and tried to make another life!
@satisr8497
@satisr8497 3 жыл бұрын
@@maggietattersfield2859 Keep in mind that Diana abandoned the marriage first because she entered it under false pretences. She made Charles believe that they had shared interests but as soon as the wedding was done, the man was on his own! She stopped supporting him & even participating in those activities that he thought they both shared mutual interests in. The man felt duped, I suppose. Diana left that space opened & there was no way Charles would not fall back into the arms of the woman that was known to and trusted by him. Though, he had originally meant to make a marriage with Diana but it takes two to tango & Diana did not love him. She played the Camilla card when it suited her & that started coming out when her affairs started & rumours of them were flying about. Then 'Squidgygate' bursted onto the public scenery! Looks like she blamed royal aides for the leak & decided to take Charles down too! And the rest is history! Lady C, over to you!

At last! I have been waiting for this topic!!! My bookshelf is full of royal biographies(mainly monarchs) including a couple of yours. It is a shame Diana excluded Barbara Cartland from her wedding considering she read all of her books. Diana's pettiness is astounding. I remember reading how terribly the Spencer children treated Countess Spencer. I thought Diana's about face towards Raine later seemed suspicious considering how Diana treated people. Alliance is a good description. Considering how Diana's father treated his ex-wife, I wonder how he treated Raine? Thanks for another chat!👑

Absolutely fascinating as ever, but in fact more so even than most of the programmes that have gone before (which I have watched avidly, a real tonic throughout this period of lockdown). On marrying into the Royal Family, no mention was made of Sarah, Duchess of York. I wonder, therefore, if a few comments about her could be a part of a future programme on royal brides, perhaps extended to include some of the European examples (e.g. Crown Princess Mary, Queen Letizia, Queen Máxima). (I would have included the Princess of Monaco, but Lady C did mention that the Monegasque family were not, strictly speaking, royals.) On the whole, such modern royal marriages to non-aristocratic girls seem to have proved good solid matches. The case of Sarah Ferguson is a very odd one that begs the question 'What on earth went so wrong, so quickly?' And why could Captain Mark Phillips and the first Earl of Snowdon be so dignified after leaving the royal family, whereas Sarah has seemed to fail so abysmally? Meghan, too, as a semi-detached royal, looks like she might herself end up completely embarrassing her husband's family. I suppose at least Sarah kept up her charity work, as did Lord Armstrong-Jones, but Meghan's 'involvement' appears to have a more political slant. I realise it's a lot to ask, but some kind of insights into how the Duke of York's side has been so bad for the monarchy would be welcome. Why have the daughters, blood princesses after all, been pushed so far into the background when there are charities aplenty that could benefit so much from their patronage? Something tells me that, with Harry and Meghan out of the picture, the future King Charles is going to have little support from family members to do the necessary charity work (an ageing Princess Royal and the Wessexes). Slimmed down monarchy is all very well, but who is going to do the foot work in the future, with even the dutiful Wessexes having ruled out their own children as being eligible for royal status? As an ordinary person, I despair that one of Prince Charles's sons has let us all down and that as king his father will have so few hands to the pump. His judgment regarding a slimmed down monarchy is deeply flawed, whilst seeming to be attractive, if royal children are being denied their birthright to serve, when the charitable function of modern royalty is such a central and vital part of the institution. I feel strongly King Charles will need to reverse his policy and bring in his royal nephews and nieces (I don't count Zara and Peter of course) if the charity role is to continue.
