Captain Marin, Thanks for your service; enjoy being retired. Really inspirational to go from E-1 to O-6. Great example as a leader for PT with your officer and enlisted subordinates (plus covering safety for exercising and literally 'taking the heat') and your admiration, respect and support for Chiefs. Neat both of you still have a close relationship. I'm a mustang officer. I believe it's important to know both sides and I'm a better officer due to my enlisted service (so proud to wear a good conduct on my dress uniform; it will always be my proudest decoration). Austen, thanks for your service, too. Your videos are great. You're so reasonable for your personal and work videos. You're a 'solid' sailor and man. You, indirectly, do the Navy a great service; I'm sure you've motivated people to join the Navy and/or be Master at Arms. You are a great example of a non-commissioned officer and law enforcement member (consider 10 years for your LEOSA status). I truly hope the Navy recognizes your on and off duty service with an appropriate award. Finally, your new place is really nice. It seems you and your girlfriend are happy there. What a great skipper, he and I were enlisted during the same time and he is correct.

I was on a first name basis with my XO on the USS Kitty Hawk CVA-63 in 1967. Capt. Thomas Hudner, he received the MOH for action during the Korean War. I called him Sir and he called me lad.

I enlisted in 84 during the same time period he describes and we got to know "Article 112A" very well. In fact we almost didn't have enough of our engineering dept left to get underway because so many MM's and BT's got snagged and the CO had a no tolerance policy so we lost something like 25 sailors in a month! Had to be done though...even though I was in Ops it was a real issue. In later years I went Warrant and then "Mustang" prior to retiring and as with your CO, know how much the "Goat locker" means to the Navy and how much respect I maintained for it. In fact, underway...I'd spend more time in the CPO mess than the wardroom as I was "welcome" in both but got more done with the Chiefs. Good content...

What like is when you tossed out the aspect of your thoughts of you getting out of the Navy. He calmly said great, you have to do what you want to do. Which is exactly true and so true in all walks of life. I hear sadly so many guys and gals rant and rave about their time in the military...it's not for everyone, and the same can apply to any job civilian and or military. Only the motivator can be the motivator. You have to find what you enjoy, you have to plan for it and apply yourself. But use everything you do as your guidance to get there. Learn from the good and the bad. Anyone can rant on about this and that..who cares.. but it is what you make of it and well you apply yourself to accomplishing the goals you are wanting to achieve. Btw, it's very true a great day always starts with a motivational P.T. session oprah, and Semper Fi... USMC/Retired.

Hey Austin ,what’s going on M I just wanted to tell you that my nephew is doing so well. He’s at the top of his class. Remember when I told you he started older in age he’s 32, and he’s an genius,there was one other sailor that was also a genius,but he’s 19 and he got into some trouble and because of it they made him cookie . I’m so proud of my handsome nephew....🇺🇸⚔️⚓️⚔️🇺🇸.....GO NAVY.....🇺🇸⚔️⚓️⚔️🇺🇸...I just ordered pizza too...👏👏👏😊😊😊...

Grew up right outside of Pensacola. Now live on Oahu on an Army airfield with my husband who did 12 years in the Corps (left as a Gunny) and did an interservice transfer into the Army as a Warrant Officer. As a spouse, would recommend all things military. Such an amazing experience for us as a family 🤙

Hey man! Couple questions. I’m currently in college and am lined up to probably go into the family business (owning restaurants). I’ve always had an interest in the navy and have contemplated it many times. I was wondering did you enter as an e1 or did you have an education prior to joining? And is it possible to join for just a few years maybe 5? I wouldn’t want to make a whole life Career out of it but I would love to serve and be a part of it.

I suddenly remembered white moustache, a rough white stubble and cheeks that went in and I came to search for retired navy man.
