@@R3tr0BurdThey had possession bud. You can literally see Reaves has the ball pinned to his leg when Lebron is calling timeout. Also the Lakers got robbed this season by the refs, and it was on Lebron’s birthday. Lebron’s foot was clearly off the three point line, but they ruled it a two. So instead of the game being tied at 108 with 2.3 seconds to go, it was 107-108, Timberwolves. Could’ve gone to OT. Definitely a top 5 robbery by the refs this season.

the Blazers gotta call the timeout faster man. they got greedy cuz they were up 1 and were trying to see what defense OKC was gonna put out there and they got that answer right away, its a halfcourt trap. which they didnt like the look of so they panic call a timeout. Unless Brogdon is verbalizing it i dont see him calling for timeout and it looks like he just makes a mistake by trying to dribble the ball through. even a jumpball is better then what he decided to do there. The Blazers shudve called timeout asoon as that ball crossed the halfcourt becuase everyone can see the wall of OKC orange jerseys in front of Brogdon. Idk what he was thinking, he shoudve seen it right away @ the 2second mark of the video, if he looks up its nothing but orange jerseys. call timeout turn to the ref and call it. instead he tries to dribble through 3 OKC players for idk what? ur up 1 make them foul u or force a jumpball, why r u trying to dribble through them? they can protest this all they want but their not gonna get it. i dont see Brogdon calling a timeout like their trying to claim, i do see him make 3 mistakes in less then 3 seconds tho.

Billups calls the timeout AFTER the double dribble. If you want to say Malcom called it with his back turned to us then maybe but Billups is late on the timeout and add the fact the ref is looking at the play. Billups needs to call that 5 seconds earlier.

Based on the headlines and comments I thought this was WAY more egregious, but after watching it in real time I understand how the timeout was missed. It was not clearly before the double dribble and the stadium was incredibly loud so its not like the ref could hear Chauncey. I agree the league needs some sort of auto timeout thing. Like a button with a light, but all the people saying this is investigation worthy are being hyperbolic.

Portland withdrew their protest. Coach Billups did not "signal" timeout until it was too late. Then Billups got angry, shoved a ref, got technical fouls, and cost his team a victory.

Unfortunately ,throwing him out the game was their form of de-escalation. Thats a big point of emphasis for the refs. They dont want any coaches or bench players coming on the court, they are terrified that will lead to potential fights and fans coming on the court. They dont want another malice at the palace and thats all the refs really care about

Just my take but the officiating seems to be at an all time low these days. Missed timeouts, missed fouls and a hypersensitivity to players showing too much emotion (whether celebrating or arguing a call). There should be another ref sitting by the announcers at center court to help avoid situations like this where a coach’s request can be missed based on a ref’s point of view or a crowd being so into the play that a ref can’t even hear the timeout being called by the coach or player.

Their excuse was that they were focusing on the play and didn’t perceive Billups calling the time out. Bad excuse. In a critical moment like the the officials _must_ be able to observe such a call. The Blazers had a legit shot at winning that game until that point. Sucks to be robbed of a possible W by the zebras.
