@@3rg025 yes it does, during times when we were not sovereign state they called it felvidék which means northern territory, absolutely ignoring the fact that ethnically it is not hungary. They call it northern territory because it disregards Slovakia, not because of history...

@@matejgamcik5356 so transylvania is called transylvania because it is disregarded as a part of romania? Offcourse not. I dont think that much hungarians actually care about things like this tho, however you also have to realize that when nearly 10% of your country is from only one minority group you have to make compromises like for example accepting that the other nationality calls your country differently and that they speak a different language, and wherever it is needed you also have to use their language to display things, something that slovakia fails to do even if it is in its law. The situation is pretty much the same in israel but violently, a historical region becoming another country.

There are few mistakes in the lyrics: Kto má naše Košice, Kto má naše Levice, Kto Šurany, Kto Komjatice? Tieto kraje patria nám, Veď nám ich dal pán Boh sám, Od Dunaja k Vysokým Tatrám. Chceme nazad Košice, Košice, Košice K tomu ešte Levice, Čo nám vzali. Na hranice pôjdeme, Pôjdeme, pôjdeme, Tam bojovať budeme S kanónami. Náš pán richtár hovorili, Že 60 (šesťdesiat) rokov má, Že by si tiež vystrelili Z poriadneho kanóna.

@@kamrat_ett1722 It's an old grammar, known as "onikanie." In Slovak, you can use the pronoun "you" in a more polite way when you say "vy" or in a familiar way "ty" and the grammar is then also different. In the past, you could also say it in more polite way, when speaking about someone else using the "oni" pronoun.

Excpet that hungary and romania joined the axis willingly, whereas czechoslovakia wanted to fight with all it had but was stopped by britain and france, and then was invaded, later in 1943 the national slovak uprising started becouse noone wanted germans here

Calling it 1000 years prison is a mistake, because slovaks (or north slavs at the time) weren't oppressed. Nationalism started in the 1800s and started peaking in 1867 when the Dual-Monarchy formed. Back in the middle ages, in the age of renaissance it was the matter of who was noble or peasant, not that who is hungarian, slovak or other. Language didn't matter either.

@@MarlokSkalinus Yes, magyarization did exist from 1867 to 1918 I don't deny that. But what you said was "1000 years prison", when in reality before 1867 or 1848, before the Habsurgs we lived peacefully together in a multiethnic Kingdom of Hungary.

Revanchist song? Košice patrili do roku 1918 do Uhorska. Ale v rokoch 1918-1939 patrili do 1. ČSR. Od roku 1939-1945 Maďarsku. Od roku 1945 -1992 do ČSSR, a od roku 1993 Slovenskej republike.

I don't really want to go into that territory dispute thing, but it is a fact that Slovakia used to be a territory of Hungary for a thousand years. Another thing is that until the end of WW2 southern Slovakia was inhabited mostly by Hungarians, please focus on the word "MOSTLY" not totally. The reason behind why so many Hungarians disappeared is that they were forced to leave. A good example from my family is that in 1946 the aunt of my mother lived in Kassa or Kosice and the government said that everyone has 5 hours to pack their things and take the first train to Hungary so they can keep their Hungarian citizenship, everyone else who did not intend to leave their homes were forced to throw away their Hungarian citizenship and became Czechoslovak citizens. Same scenario has been played with the Germans in the Sudetenland.

Same with Sudet, Germans. I dont blame ordinary people for events like this, everyone did war crimes. We kicked out all Germans and Hungarians. Hungarians captured our Podkarpatska Rus. yes, wrong people got to rule our country. Yet still, this nationalist movement was made after being hungarized, culturally forced, had our language banned, any patriotic movement banned for quite some time. Then when we got our freedom, we became paranoid, very paranoid. And yes, that dispute is pain in the ass cuz we were part of Hungary for legit 918 years, but still. Slavs were inhabiting Slovakia about 200 years before Hungarians and despite being culturally supressed, we kept it through the dark times.

In comparison, it took Slovaks less than 100 years to implement oppressive language laws and drastically reduce the Hungarian population in Slovakia. It seems to me that this "Magyarisation" was not as oppressive as modern propaganda (both Slovak and Croatian) claims it to be.

@@Pajdas610 it wasnt as bad honestly. It got really bad in 19th century when Hungary was opressing every single minority. Before that, we did not have our official language, children were learning hungarian but it wasnt as bad from what I know. In 19th century every Slovak institution was banned as well as use of Slovak language, Slovak literature, our writers, intelectuals and politicans were thrown in prison etc. About opressing Hungarians, yes, after ww2 Czechoslovakia basically gave ultimatum to Hungarians that didnt let go off their nationalism to either leave country or get Slovak citizenship. However even today, in Slovakia we have ethnically Hungarian territories where there is Hungarian taught in schools, street and city names are in Hungarian etc.
