Hamilton Police are still investigating a shooting that left a 53-year-old man dead in Central Hamilton.
While detectives haven’t released many details, area residents say they know exactly what happened
Hamilton Police were called to the area of Sanford Avenue North and Acorn Street just before six last night, for a shooting.
Debbie Muir lives across the street, and heard it all
“There were three ambulances here, the whole street was blocked, acorn, police, paramedics, he was already gone so” said Muir.
She says in just a few minutes, the street was packed with officers and paramedics.
A 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Police say this was a targeted incident, and there’s no threat to public safety, no word yet if anyone was arrested, or if there is a suspect description.
While police wouldn’t release many details about the shooting, area residents feel they already know what happened.
“People know the area that there were drug dealers in and out, sooner or later something was gonna happen, all night and day there’s stuff going on there,” said Matheson.
Dave Matheson says more needs to be done to keep people safe in this area.
“I got jumped down at King and Emerald one night, guy broke my nose, there were four or five of them. I just took it and left cuz I didn’t want to get stabbed or shot, it was painful, and scary” said Matheson.
Police are still investigating the incident.
