Back in the day, AUTOart was a company that used to sell models for as low as €50-€150 tops. Today, several of these models from the early 2000s have doubled or tripled in price, and the new ones aren't any less expensive, and in fact start at around €150 and usually go upto €300. And with the move to composite, people are scooping up AUTOart's older diecast models still left in the market, however, there still are some models left that YOU can get for cheap, and in this video I tell you which ones are still out there.
Please note that my research and pricing is based on the European market, i.e. the pricing & availability of some of the mentioned AUTOarts in this video can be different in North America for example. On the other hand, you guys over there got your $15 Maistos compared to our $45 ones, and you can get Hot Wheels Elite and Ertl/Auto World models for cheaper than we can over here. :-)
I do not own any of these pictures, they were the result of google images and ebay results while researching these models.

@@elektrosquad4673 I would consider them if, after having switched from diecast to composite, they would have also reduced the price, but they didn't. Not interested in spending $300 retail unless nobody else makes the car, like koenigsegg or maybach stretch limos.

Amen! How many people actually looked up the definition for "composite" before subscribing to AutoArt's campaign to give plastic a new name? Some of the new plastic models look good, but the big problem remains the price. Initially they said the plastic would reduce costs, and improve details. Now it seems details are suffering, and prices are even higher than the original diecasts were. Thanks for a great video!

Hi, first thanks for sharing this view! As I type this comments its no longer true that Autoart 1/18s are still affordable. I'm a mix scale (1/64, 1/43, and 1/18) collector since early 90's and thankfully I saw the AA price trend early on and purchase about 20+ AA 1/18 mostly in Millennium series and 6 or so in Signature series. Not that they are more expensive now commanding anywhere from $90 performance models to over $400 for their "out of production" Signatures, BUT most of their new composites 1/18 are in the $200 range with less details sometime. I'm commenting on multiple diecast videos to share a view hopefully the manufacturers are reading and can still do something about this trend or the hobby of 1/18 collection will be out of reach for most but those with fat wallets! One company I'm very fond of and with mix feeling is Norev. They can make wonderful models in the $100 range like the Mercedes Maybach 600 Sedan or roadster in good old fashion diecast metal alongside their less expensive sealed models. I will go as far as spending $30 plus more if they go a little high end in the engine detail department. Again thanks!

Right now, I have maybe 10 Autoart models, and I have never spent more than 100€ on them, except one rare occasion where I spent 179€ but it was G63 6x6. Other Autoart that have is V12 Vantage, Lola Aston Martin DB09/60, Maserati MC12 GT1, Lambo Huracan, Lambo Supertrofeo, Mclaren MP4 12C and 3 newly acquired LMP1 racers - two Nissan GT-R LM Nismo's and TS040. I am a bargain hunter, I rarely paying full price for a model car, and I pretty happy with my Autoart affairs.

Gateway Global Ltd did not change the name to Autoart, it was one of the brand name of that parent company. The other brand selling alongside with Autoart is known as Gate ( hence the name Gateway) which is a budget version of Autoart. BTW Autoart bought UT models in 1999 and they started from there. Anything is on Gate model boxes, if you look at the back it will have Gateway Global Ltd on it. Hope this help!

Very beautiful video. Especially for novice or inexperienced. Oh yes, AutoArt and the composite. I just can not make friends with people who do not build metal cars anymore. Luckily I've been able to secure some jewelry in the last few years. At some point absurd astronomical prices will be achieved. Whereby this is already happening to me, see Mercedes W100 Pullmann. Best regards, Georg

I remember buying my very first 1:18 AutoArt in Japan back in 1999. It was Y5000 yen or $60 at that time an orange Lamborghini Murcielago. Then for $30 I got the UT Porsche GT2 EVO! Those were the good old days. Fast forward to today 2022. I wanted the 1:18 Aventador SVJ from AutoArt at $268 I can no longer afford composite model, not even a diecast. Times have changed!!!

Personally, I do not think the level of details on today Autoart models are worth the hefty price that they ask for, not to mention they opted to use composite material aka plastic. I still remember when I bought the 1/18 scale Murcielargo back in the early 2000 for around $69.00 and it has outdone the details on the $219.00 Aventador SV with plastic composite body. And now Autoart just introduced the all around sealed body, nothing open line of models like the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 or the NSX GT3 and still asking a hefty price tag of $160.00. I have refused to pay full retail prices for any of the new Autoart models, unless I can find a heavily discounted or a used model for around $100.00 - $130.00. I think that is what Autoart model really worth factoring in the composite material that they use, lacking of details and a close to non-existence quality control.
@ImperialDiecast

fully agree, dude. The early 2000s were an amazing time to collect autoarts. Maybe one day the composite price bubble will burst and they will get discounted heavily.
