In this video I’ll be reviewing the Vax SpotWash Spot Cleaner. I was torn between this Vax machine and the Bissell Spot Clean but decided to go with this one as it was on offer at the time.
I’ll be demonstrating this spot carpet cleaner on the seats and mats of a few different cars to see how well it works and whether it’s worth buying. I purchased this mainly to clean my own car’s interior and also to occasionally deep clean some other car’s interiors.

I have this machine myself and you have gave me some great advice on using the machine. I feel for just using it on your own car it’s perfect considering it’s price and results which can be achieved. Also handy around the house as well.

I purchased one of these recently and find it much easier to use than my older large upright vax. Great value for money. Had one snag my power button was faulty but vax replaced and new unit is great so far. I agree about not using the solution in the system especially what vax provide. Great video.

I bought the similar Bissell Spot Clean Pro just before this came on the market. Great little machine, although I wish it had the self clean feature of the Vax. As you showed, it's unbelievable how much dirt you can extract from seats and mats!

I bought on of these for cleaning the odd mucky marks in the carpets of my student houses and it's a great little machine. I also cleaned my car mats too and did both our sofa's and it did a great job.

Excellent choice, I have a Bissell version and found it affordable and practical and it really does work even on very dirty cars. Much easier than a larger extraction machine. Would be nice if you could do more interior videos. Loving the channel.

Best way to do this is to put the solution in a spray bottle and use the vax to clean the solution out of the carpet/material.

I use an extractor twice a year on my upholstery, and also clean the seats by hand using APC and a damp microfiber. I do this as and when needed In-between extractions. They're not necessary, but for deep cleaning, they make life a lot easier.

Technically, these are really only spot cleaners, but they do save getting out the larger types or using the more expensive commercial types for just car seats or mats. There are various brands that do similar jobs, but I like the look of the self clean function and the removable clear head component. Keep up with the content.

Great video Heather! I bought the similar Bissell Spot Clean about 6 months ago. I like to think I keep my car clean but was pretty surprised at how much dirt came out of the mats! And like your Vax, I find the hose a little too short but still a worthwhile investment and useful tool!

Thanks for the video, the Vax cleaner seems to be a nice bit of kit which is ideal for cleaning cars. My mum has a full blown upright cleaner and that does a very good job of cleaning her carpets. I look forward to some more tips/advice.

Another great Video Heather, my ageing ‘George’ vac is a big old brute and the trigger and other accessories are past their best. This Vax looks compact enough to stow away at the side of the garage or shed and I like the self-clean feature - I’ll be looking at buying one based on this video thank you!

Thanks Steve! It's very compact you can tuck it away really easily. This model is still discounted atm but it could be worth hanging on until Black Friday to see if the price dips any more or even get an upgrade for a similar amount

Another great review and video, great 10 minutes of a relax :) i like that your reviews are filled with user perspective views, not just singing praises,also pointing out downsides. Just wondering, isn't the 2nd option of using this the same as if you would use a wet vacuum cleaner? Of course you would need to wet the fabrics with water with another sprayer. Thx :)

The drill brush method seems to be more effective and the one that most detailers I’ve seen on KZfaq employ. This machine also seems to be comparable to the Bissell Spot Clean , a very popular machine. My antedote for stains and dirt is to buy a car with leather upholstery. I know I sound bougie, but for me it’s worth it.

Leather seats are so much easier. My first car had fabric seats and I found them such a pain I made sure to get leather ones when I bought my Mazda 😂

I've just bought this for my home as I live in a 3 story house and have 2 lots of stairs in my home and the muck that came out of the stairs carpet was unbelievable even though I hoover them every week the vax cleaner cost me £144 littlewoods catalogue.

Doing a very amateur interior clean on my car, for the dashboard and plastics, I always use an anti static foam cleanser from the lines of Electrolube or whatever Tool Station happens to have in stock. Had some marks on passenger seat and thought I’d try spraying lots of the foam cleanser on it, and then used my steam cleaner with brush attachment to agitate it and it did look a lot better. I’ve seen another popular KZfaqr sometimes do a similar method but either brushing an interior cleaning solution in with a steam brush and they also seem to get good results l, on one, you can see the dirt rising to the top. Being a new subscriber I was going to ask you about interior cleans lol

Got myself one of this, will be testing today and using Vax SpotWash Antibacterial Solution. I liked your water only + drill brush method. I’d like to use usual spray bottle to apply cleaning solution. Pls could you advice what proportion of water and this cleaning solution should I use? I need to clean floor and all seats in Nissan Qashqai + boot. Thank you for your videos, I find them extremely useful!

Excellent review Heather a have a vax carpet cleaner I use that and not long ago I got the karcher sc3 tested it out on the seats and was very impressed with the results but I do agree this way is the best is to wet vac and extract 👍

That seems a useful little machine , I think the lack of water capacity would be annoying but then again it's only meant for smaller jobs. Nice camaera work as always 👍

Still feel these are great but expensive. Have a bulky vax machine the parents bought which does the job. You don't realise how much dirt is hidden in the interior. Cleaned the seats on my VW UP and it turned the cleaning solution black

Yeah I get what you mean. It's cheap comparatively to other machines but they still are a pretty big investment. It's perfect if you can borrow one as it doesn't need doing too often

Nice review Heather. Been thinking about this type of machine for a while as would save space on the van from the George for the little use it gets (mainly soft top extraction) so this might be a handy addition for doing the odd seat and set of mats 👌

Just bought one as my C1 has developed that dreaded seat well puddle syndrome, still nonidea where and how but it started after a heavy downpour but yhrcdfivrrs side is perfectly fine, I will have to check the rubber for cracks then use french or fine paper to check for seal continuity then with the seat trim removed check for any leakage by applying a water spray from outside

I recommend adding an acid conditioner for textiles to the water (I use Chemspec - All Fiber Textile Rinse), it makes textiles softer and helps to remove all the alkaline components left after APC, which in the future reduces textile contamination.

May I (being German) quote King Charles III here? "Dear, oh dear!" Again: This is very useful consumer advice - well, not for "average buyer", but for OCDs. I was in the same regime: Spray, brush or drill-brush, tap dry with a towel. thought, I did well by doing so. Obviously not. Thank god it's christmas soon and my wife will get the answer to "what's Your wish" fast. Seriously: one aspect needs to be highlighted: Heather always demonstrates, that moving slowly with whatever tool is in use enables best results. Be it a washmitt or an extractor or whatever else.

Does the clean tank clip into place as mine doesnt? Only bought it new yesterday? So if i move it its not secure into place it has a clip on it but it sits lower in the machine and doesnt clip into place

Good video! I agree with the pre-treat and drill brush method, although I tend to use Surfex HD personally. I find it's the magic liquid and I've yet to find anything it can't shift. Extractors themselves are great, and you can find many uses for them. I also use mine to keep the stair carpet clean and fresh and to clean out the filter, salt reservoir and spray arms on my dishwasher.

Once your solution runs out, go with equal parts water and white vinegar, a dash of fairy liquid and some lavender oil (if you're into that sort of thing) For some jobs you can add baking soda as well but slowly and carefully. Car seats are the sort of job I would add baking soda for.

I know the problem with "dried soap" left in the seats/carpets/mats. When dried up I use a soft brush to loosen up the residue, and then vacuum it thoroughly.

Thanks for watching :) I've not got any tricks I'm afraid except to just try and extract as much from the fabric as you possibly can. It usually takes about 1.5-2 hours for the seats to be completely dry unless its super cold so I normally just do it before the rest of the interior/ exterior and it's not too much of a problem

Thank you! Nope I didn't have any water marks but I did keep extracting the seats until it wasn't pulling up any water. They still felt a bit damp but they dried in a couple of hours :)
