Cheap and Easy Round Bale Feeder for Goats or Sheep- Mudd Flapp Ranch

Күн бұрынI used a cattle panel and some large springs to make a round bale feeder. This set up saves tons of hay and saves money. Plus I had the help of Flappette No. 5.

put it on a pallet to prevent the moisture being sucked up from the ground.

Not a bad suggestion, but I have it set up on a hill and don't any issue with moisture. I have a bunch of goats eating and it usually doesn't last long enough to worry about.

Yes, 2 cattle panels held together with tie straps. A $9.99 harbor freight tarp (8'4" x 11'6") works nice for a cover, they only last about a year, but when one gets a hole I just add a new one on top. I use 4 T-posts to hold the bow in the cattle panels, and a 10' piece of 1/2" conduit on the bottom.

When it gets too messy, It is super easy to move to a new spot.

Do you have any videos of how the fence looks when you are getting near the end of the round bale. Those panels are pretty heavy duty and would like to see how they are tightened up and how they look when you open the wire up for the next round bale

How many goats are eating it and how do you keep them from getting horns stuck

I have about 25 in that pasture, and they do get stuck occasionally. If I have to get one out twice in a week, I tape a 12 inch piece of PVC pipe to their horns. In the week or two it takes them to break the tape and knock the pipe off, they seem to forget that they can stick their head in there. I use the same pipe trick for the fence. Goats are not the smartest animals....😂
