You need good telescope holder like the one for table lamps if you want to solder . The 7 inch G1200 is worth it but the 9 inch G1600 is not..This one has the bigger screen but the image is not better.

Worst part about this microscope is that you can't turn off auto exposure. When you move to a reflective part of the board you're looking at, everything goes dark. It's very annoying.

Can I use hot air gun under this scope?

Bottom plate is made of aluminium, I would say yes.
