I bought this same model 2 years back and have been quite happy. I especially like the variable speed but the power it has for a small shop like mine for the price you pay really makes a difference. I've since added a mortising attachment (one from Delta) that goes on easily and with the higher amp motor of the drill press it handles everything I've done so far. In addition to the mortising attachment I added a T-track table I made from some 1" MDF as well added a cross sliding table and have used the drill press for some lighter milling work. Its a great little machine that makes working in the shop that much easier and doesn't require my having a ton of space.

I was looking at this drill press on amazon. It only had 2 reviews, both brief, and one was negative. I think you covered everything I wanted to know. Thanks, very helpful.

Rickey Bobby I think you will be happy. I haven’t stress tested it yet but the higher amps and variable speed is worth the price compared to the lower models.

yeah me too great job, I should get a discount on my HD order but HD wants a $200 bill outa me. but this one is nicer than the one in HF.

Thought about this one but decided on the 5 speed manual change Skil because it has quite a bit more power and a work light. Changing speeds on the fly isn't that important to me as 99% of what I'll be drilling is wood, but if I do need to drill steel I'll have the extra torque to do it.

It's reasonably fair,just i don't get the laser light with 2 AA batteries could of simple made the circuit integrated with an on-off switch come on *Wen*
@rayrainer9852 жыл бұрын
The reasoning was that you can use the laser without turning the drill on. This way you can make your adjustments before you turn it on. One thing I have learned is to use Lithium batteries for things you care about. I have had regular batteries ruin some electronics. I had this very nice laser leveler where the batteries corroded it so bad, even after I cleaned it, it still didn't work. Probably should take the batteries out if you don't use it a lot but supposedly lithium batteries don't have that problem of corroding.

Can someone explain how loud this is and if it would be ok for say 5/10 minutes of use a day if I have neighbours?

I am considering buying this model as well. It will be my first Drill Press could someone tell me what it means by 10" Swing?

Just bought this unit and getting ready to set it up. Two questions. Did you have to degrease it before setting it up? Mine seems fine without degreasing. Do you think it’s necessary to bolt the press down to work bench? Thanks for simple straight forward review.

Just got into woodworking and I'm looking for a drill press. The 4210t is significantly cheaper and wondering if I should buy that model instead of this one.
@cannedjam61914 жыл бұрын
ChuckyGlasco my advice is to buy something you can grow into as opposed to something you will grow out of. The main difference is the cheaper one is 5 speed and you need to adjust the speed by changing the belt position on the gears. This one is variable speed you adjust RPM with a lever. For me the variable speed was worth it.

I was thinking about getting the WEN 4214 - 4214T model, but I saw they had this variable model and thought I might check if anyone had a overview of this model. I think I'm SOLD!! ....Sadly you do not have any affiliate links so I will toss a coin to my witcher and hit the subscribe button.

Watching some reviews on the 4212 and 4214, and on some of them, the drill sounds really loud. Not so on your video. You haven't had any issues with that?
@cannedjam61913 жыл бұрын
It’s not any louder than I would have expected.

Debating on this WEN 10" drill press or a Ryobi instead. If anyone has any opinions on which is the better one, I'd appreciate it. Thx
@cannedjam61913 жыл бұрын
K LE a lot of these style drills are essentially the same. I’d compare features and price and go with whichever one has the most features for the lowest price.
@mikemd26973 жыл бұрын
I looked at the Ryobi as well but just bought this WEN 4212 ( I own lots of Ryobi tools, but this is my first WEN ). If I recall correctly, this WEN has more power and I like the ease of variable speed with digital speed readout.

Drilling through thin wood, eh? How about a 10 mm hole into mild steel without pilot holes, would it do that? There are still many of us building in steel. Btw, that's how i ruined my cheap current drill press. However, drilling holes is what these babies are supposed to do.
@cannedjam61914 жыл бұрын
How about 1/4” 7075 aluminum? Handled it with a slight bit of bogging, but did the job.
@LS8eighteen4 жыл бұрын
Aluminum is easy with a sharp drill and some cutting oil. For steel, you better have a lot more torque and a very stable platform.

Brandon special economics package (print billions of dollars) is driving the price on these way up. Over $230 now. We did not see price spikes like this when Trump's tariff's went in place.
