The Print Life you have the i550, you have a gold mine of a printer. Sublimation, fluorescent toners... I. Have the Oki 8432, I bought the wrong fucking printer, but I also built my own DTg and have printed over 4000 tees on it in 16 months. It didn’t cost me 30k, but really the cost of the printer, 700.00 and the flat bed about another 650.00 or so. My dtg prints wider than the i550 or the 600 or the Oki 8432. You’ve got the best rip on the market and you didn’t start with the lest capable rip and that’s Magic Touch, which is good for you. However, that being said, Magic Touch shines on hard surfaces and tiles.... that i550 is a huge learning curve, but when you get it down, you’ll see a perfect place in the market for that. I highly recommend buying the sublimation toners. You’ll Print thousands of mugs, metal prints and awesome sublimation items. Congrats on a sports car model of white toners. You’re in good hands where you are.

I bought this system since i wanted to avoid maintenance of a DTG printer, i bought the printer that prints up to 13" x 19". Shirts come out great and i recommend this system for event shirts, something that you will wear 1 or 2 times because after 3 or 4 washes image cracks and or you start getting those spots where ink comes off. After a year and not getting a lot of returnig costumers i had to get a DTG printer if i wanted to stay in business. Durability, compared to DTG, not even close. I love this system for hats and face covers though, something you dont wash often.

@@nanobritech2631 I have a cricut and it only does the cutting. The stick factor and surviving the wash test has nothing to do with the cutting machine and everything to do with the quality of the vinyl, printer and press. I have done vinyl designs for myself using a cricut and have had them for several years now and have done countless washes. Still no cracks and no peeling. You can produce quality work with a cricut or a silhouette machine If you have quality equipment and materials to do your press. Like is said the cricuts functions are to cut only. Has nothing to with the durability.

I bought the uninet 560 last year and ended up selling it. Its not bad for doing small orders. If you have full color prints with little negative space the prints are going to feel like a paper bag on your shirt. If you have larger orders of 100 prints or more then its going to take you forever to complete the order. Between marrying and heat pressing its going to take you quite a while not to mention a slew of other issues from heat press issues to prints not peeling correctly. Humidity problems. Paper problems. Printing problems etc. Its just not practical for a thriving business. For small orders or personal use its not bad. We have our transfers screenprinted now. Its actual cheaper per print and when you compare pressing a screenprinted transfer for 10 seconds as opposed to the white toner print that takes much much longer to press not to mention you have to marry the A and B sheets. Then it seems like we were having lots of peeling issues. With screenprinted transfers its press for 10 seconds and immediately peel with 99% success rate. And it feels like a real screenprint as opposed to it feeling like a paperbag on your shirt. Sorry about the negative info but I wish someone had told me this before I dropped close to $4,000 on this printer.

Do not build a shirt business on this. Just don't. Yes I have experience with it. Yes I have experience with high end DTG. And most importantly I have 25+ years as a screen printer. This is NOT a way to build a business. Learn to print, and more importantly, learn to sell/market. You can start for waaaay less money, just basic printing. If you want to decorate with this method just buy a heat press and find some other way to get the prints done. A heat press can always be handy to have, every shop has one. I built a 6 color 1 station press for $200. A few screens, squeegees and such. Running out and dropping $4K on a laser printer is a recipe for losing money. The real people making money with this are the marketers of the printers.

How many washes? Depends on the transfer paper you are using. Easily over 50 with the right paper and you need the Right heat press to pull it off. When done correctly you can break the rules and dry on HIGH heat and it will still last a long time. The instructions don't matter much. Things change depending on the material, quality of material and ect. You will need to do your own testing

Possibly one of the best decisions I’ve made is purchasing the Icolor 550, I’ve come from Screenprinting/htv vinyl for 5+ years and let me tell you it saves you a lot of time, I feel like the learning curve would be peeling the A&B sheets since you would have to find the right temperature/press time and getting it to peel smoothly, but otherwise then that the quality is amazing!

Great vid! Seeking advice: Current situation: -Artist/designer (not a printer). I do all my own file setup (vector/Illustrator). - Zero screen printing experience (or desire to do it). -I have a core stock of tees (6 designs) done by a great local screen printer. I ship from my studio. - I have tons of other designs, color, garment options on my Shopify store, DTG/dropshipped by Printful. - POD companies are all backed up and delayed due to COVID-19. Wondering: Would this be a suitable replacement to bring it all in house, and do the prints myself - as far as quality, etc. compared to Printful/POD? This startup cost is doable for me, and would give me the option of offering countless designs. I understand I'd have to stock my own blanks, etc. and do the actual printing myself. Thanks!

It is a super option for shops that want to fulfill short run full color graphics. They are not for fashion or resale applications, you would not use this to print for a clothing brand or anything like that. Best for single-use applications, RIP tees Family trip tees, Lots of fun options that allow you to charge 30 bucks a shirt.

Hey Cam, since you say this is an alternative to DTG, how's texture/feel? is it matte or glossy? the biggest turn off for me with transfers is the thick rubbery feel..it's like someone just slapped a sticker on a shirt. is it at least in between the softhand feel of traditional screenprint and regular transfers? hard to judge from just the video clip.
@ThePrintLife
@ThePrintLife 4 жыл бұрын
It certainly dose not feel like a screen print, it is a heat transfer. If you have ever felt a plastisol transfer it feels very similar. It has a matt finish after the final press. The rip has these super cool features like knock me out black and rasterization options that help make the print feel butter soft. I have been screen printing for a very long time, and I'm super impressed with the look and feel. With that in mind, this is not a replacment for screen printing, its a supplement that allows you to offer short run short use tees to you clients. You would not use this print for long runs and for a clothing brand.

Nothing like a DTG printer. Look up Ghost White Toner, HP M452dw, Forever Transfer Papers, and RhinoScreen 2.0. Most won't tell you because they want to promote the more expensive printers, but to get in the game (for way less than half of just the Uninet or Oki printer) you cannot beat that combo. If you have the cash $12K+ , get the Oki Pro9541WT. It can do CMYK+W in one pass and it can print 13x19. You're welcome. Also, these have been out for a few years, so hop on quick as you can see, most people are starting to catch on.
