Frankie Ren I bought a Cimmaron tent from Wal Mart, it was last man standing out of a display post near miss by a tornado. no problems until it was left in the sun too long. totally rotted. until then, I was unaware of this problem with nylon. well, they stopped carrying this tent. guess they'd rather count on suckers buying their next tent from them!

I dunno if it's because I've lived in Washington State for 31 years, but the sound of rainfall from the inside of a tent is one of the most relaxing sounds in the universe. I could (and have on many occasions before) listen to that for hours.

Raining now on my 27 dollars Ozark Trail one person tent⛺🤠⁉️.... This man Luke sometimes like to exaggerated!!!....about so called CHEAP GEAR from Target or Walmart... nothing wrong with this gear in the rain now in Washington DC December the 29TH ..2019..AND BEEN USING IT IN THE WINTER NOW TODAY......THIS MAN LUKE ALSO DON'T LIKE THE COLD... I notice.. try the cheap gear first .... And if you don't like it... Then buy from a outdoor outlet..... Their equipment is a lot better maybe than Target or Walmart...but is it hundreds of dollars better...........the answer is no....... For some overpriced shower curtains......HECK NO!!!🤨⁉️🏕️

Absolutely love the concept! As a newer backpacker with a small budget, it is nice to hear truthful firsthand info as these products are tempting to purchase during a startup phase. Aside from not being able to drop 100's sometimes 1000's to get a premier setup on the first go round, these are likely products that are highly visible in stores and help us sort through what actually has realtime application/ value.

Instead of destroying that Ozark, consider taking steps to improve the tent to make it usable. It may be interesting if you applied a repellant on it, attached a grommet or two if the tent becomes viable. Seems like a waste to simply destroy it.

I have a couple of products I've been using and plan on sending them to you to test, but you will have to wait a little till I'm positive they're great. I love cheap but quality gear and there is no reason to send you with junk to ruin your trip, so hang tight. I just bought a tent that looks a lot like yours but has some significant advantages. The tent is a NatureHike Mongar 3 season/ two person, price was about $150. Main differences would be weight - less than 4 pounds / 2 Kg, has two entrances, air vents at either end and loops to hold the skirt away from the body (either end), Nylon/Silicon fly. I took this to the Negev earlier this Spring for a three week hike; lots of wind, sand and dust, with a few rain storms. I was impressed!

Just to be clear, I was looking for a cheap tent w/bug net and cover as I live in Florida and insects run rapid. I bought another Ozark Trail tent which was a knock off of another popular better known well made tent. The tent came with tent, cover, fiberglass poles, stakes, ect. I bought aluminum poles that were lighter and stronger, and waterproofed it/sealed all seams, & bought three point/lightweight aluminum tent stakes. All together, I have less than $75 in the whole thing. It holds up under semi-strong winds, heavy rain, will take a few inches of snow load without collapsing, but it is a one person tent and I mean one-person-tent. Any extra gear either goes to you head or feet, and not much gear at that. Now as for your quest on what should be done with your Ozark Trail pool tent, I think you ought to give away, not at a a tent, but as an outdoor shower stall/toilet stall/camping outhouse. Or, figure out ways to improve that miserable excuse of a tent to prove a point. Incidently, that particular tent you sampled, is a cheap knock off of another well made tent by another company. That might even send a message to Walmart.

When I was in Forestry college, we had a Summer camp and I split a lot of wood to heat our cabin. I had a felling ax which I kept super sharp, and a splitting ax which was left dull. To split properly, we aimed with the ax head at a 30 degree angle from vertical pointed toward the outside edge and we worked from the outside of the block in. Hitting vertical just buries your ax instead of splitting. You should test a splitting ax. Hatchets are for Boy Scouts.

I forgot to comment when you made this vid...I almost lost it when you pulled out the Ozark trail tent remembering the total fail when you tested it. Because mine looked just like yours did after the rain. And mine was melted snow! I had even seam sealed it! Before you even got into the proposed fate of this tent, I was thinking a great tannerite target! Then when you said you were thinking of another "shoot out" ...great minds! But if you want to do a charitable act, I agree with a comment about sending it to a town in the desert somewhere. It could be donated to a charity with a warning, not for rainy weather!
