Cheap HD Microscope Camera Review - Compound & Stereo scope examples.

Looking for a cheap HD microscope camera, but unsure how the various adapters work, what they'll fit, and what to get? I was in the same boat and after considerable research; here's the full HD, 60 fps camera I decided on. Works great on both stereo and compound microscopes, with or without camera mounts.
This Hayear microscope comes with a 0.5X 23.2 mm C mount adapter and two adapter rings sized 30.0mm and 30.5mm. As long as your microscope camera mount or eye piece is one of those three sizes, this microscope camera should work with it.

I got it directly from Hayear from their Amazon store. I initially saw your video and clicked the Bangood link to buy it but due to new laws with VAT in the UK and now the EU (Seller needs to be VAT registered) it says "CAN NOT Ship to the United Kingdom" It's a big problem on Bangood and Aliexpress at the moment and I use those platforms a lot for electronic and radio equipment. I've spoken to Hayear and they want 48hrs to look in to it, so I do hope they sort it out. As the camera in your video and other reviews look absolutely incredible. Yes the product description and the manaul that came with mine states 1080P/60. But strangely it is a Ver 1.1 2020 but in 2018 they had a Ver 1.3. Very confusing. When I find out some more information from Hayear I'll reply back hopefully with some good news, then fingers crossed I will put a video on here too.

review helped me. im actually buying this to put on the viewfinder of an old 8mm film camera, so I can have a video assist. took me a LOONG time to figure this one out. hope its gonna work. thanks again

Thank you yours is the only Video I could Find which pairs Compound Microscope with a cheap camera (usually only camera which cost a lot more are used). Thank you Very Much

Looks awesome, just an added key, double check resolutions for the pictires and video feed in realtime =] other then that, thinking about heading fairly deep into the world of micro-organisms =]

Thanks John for an excellent guide. My need is to document my work by taking snapshots now and then. Are you able to stream in realtime to the computer via USB, in my case a MacBook? If so I may take screen dumps from the computer for later use.

No idea with Mac. My PC's see it as a web camera so by using any standard web cam recording software, I can record in real time; again, no idea on Mac.

Hi John, Im wondering would this be good for painting very small models? (28mm scale miniatures) ive not seen them be used for this so im hesitant to spend a lot of money on it. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I'm presuming you are referencing the stereo microscope? The camera alone won't work without some kind of microscope to use it with. The stereo microscope (not the compound biology microscope) I'm using in this video (an Amscope 7X - 45X zoom) would work for that size of miniature, likely best with the addition of a 0.5 Barlow lens. That Barlow will half the magnification but double the working distance so you have more room between the stage and lens body to paint. This is the setup many electronics/RC hobbyists have (myself included) to get the soldering iron or smd heat wand under the scope and that magnification range is just about perfect for most electronic component work including tiny SMD so I would think it would also be a good magnification range for 28mm size miniatures. For fine painting work, I would think you would need a stereo microscope so you have a depth of field while paining. Likely not even using the camera. Of course I don't know a thing about that hobby - you would know your requirement's better than me 🙂

@@Rchelicopterfun Thank you John yeah the depth of field would be important, AliExpress does have a trinocular stereo microscope with a 48mp camera for about £372 but it would be a very expensive experiment

No idea? I specifically show the diameter of the adapter rings included with this camera so people can check the sizing against their own scope/s to see if they will fit.

I just remove it while video editing if I feel the need, otherwise it doesn't bother me. There is also firmware on Hayer's website you can download to disable the timestamp. If you do that however, it will never show.

Do you also have a blurry image on the left? I bought Hayear HY-2307 the tear image is blurry, very clear on the right, I turn the camera over, the blur moves to the right. The sensor through the microscope is working, very clean, even removed the upper protective glass, the matrix is still under the glass. Nowhere can I find a Panasonic MN34110PA for sale to try to replace. Do these matrices have such a disease?

Mine is slightly blurry around all edges, not just one side while the center is crystal. I however see the same thing when viewing through my eyepieces as well as the camera, so the outer edge blur I'm experiencing is in the scope, not the camera.

No idea. You have the scope/s, you know the eye piece diameters.

Sorry, no idea. Windows sees it as just another external USB camera. I would think mac os would to, but since I'm not an apple user, that is only speculation on my part. Best to contact the manufacturer or vendor.

Are you able to zoom in further with the camera? If it can only use the 100x objective, that seems really low.

Most microscope cameras have no additional zoom. They have no optics, just the imaging chip. The microscope is the optical zoom device or your imaging software if you need even more.

Are you still using this camera? I had a question about it, does it magnify like the eyepiece that’s removed? My eyepiece is 10x mag and that gives me my final magnification amount, does the camera have any magnifying?

Yes, still have it & its working great. Yes, the camera has built in magnification but no idea what the actual power is; if there even is a way to correlate camera field of view to eyepiece FOV. At first glance, it seems more than the 10X eyepieces (even with the 0.5X barlow which must be used). I too have 10X eyepieces but I always use wide field ones and I believe that is why the image seems more magnified with the camera. Just as an example, when I view a specimen in the compound scope that takes up about 50% of the total field of view through the 10X WF eyepieces, the view on the monitor though the camera renders the specimen at almost 100% of the field of view and almost fills the entire monitor. That is without any digital zoom dialed in on the camera. However, if I view the same thing without a WF, just a regular10X eyepiece, then what I see through the eyepiece is pretty close to what is showing on the display, not exactly 1:1, but maybe 80% of what is showing on the display.

Buy an OMAX brand "compound microscope", compound microscopes are used in bio labs. Stay away from Amscope - their quality has really dropped.

Can this be used in a simple mount and broadcast onto a monitor? What I’m looking to do is mount it above a knife sharpener so I can see a zoomed in edge. Vision issues. I would like to mount it 10-12 inches above the blade edge and have it zoomed in to at least 150x? Will this work with proper attachments without scope? Thx for any help you can offer.
