Күн бұрынSo here's a cheap home project I was working on during the lockdown. A chuck glider rc conversion. Work's kind of a slow down these few months due to the pandemic situation and I had this idea to do a chuck glider RC conversion for awhile now. Here's the build video I hope you enjoy.

I recognised some parts, but after you said "elevons" I was convinced these were left-overs from an upgraded AR Wing PNP ;) Nice vid, have three of these and a big one on the shelf waiting to be converted.

Hi! Elevon is the name of the control surfaces that mix elevator and ailerons, like ELEVator plus ailerONS. Is a common name on flying wings. I think the guys that putted that as as standard mix on the radios gives that name to it. Ps: great vid! Super well achieved project!

The best way to hollow out a foam fuse is with a dremel and a metal grinding bit- will leave your sides clean with the razor cut and the bottom will have a cnc machined look. Using pliers is a hack move :)

@@shogunemperor I used elevon mix tho, urs should fly better, more aileron control. Nice build! Can't wait for your flying footages

Great video! Just got a set of 4 large chuck gliders, I can't wait to get started. I'll attempt all different with motors in alternate positions.

Im thinking of using one 450 mah 2s battery. Do you think this will be too small for this plane? And do you think its necesary to add the carbon spars to the fuselage and the wings?

It maybe abit small. But then again, i was originally flying it on a 3S 350mah lipo.

I bought the same exact chuck glider, thinking to do an RC conversion like you did, but no idea how to. This video really helps. Any plan to put an FPV cam on board ?

thanks bruddah. Glad to be of help. Yes actually, the cockpit was originally hollowed out for the FPV system... but after many crashes.. I decided to mount the FPV system on the outside. Just a basic VTX plugged to the ESC for power and cam wired direct to VTX

Very good instructional video. I was in the middle of a conversion and was curious about servo placement when I found this post. In my case, I'm going very minimalist, except for the NX3 stabilizer. It looks like you're using standard size parts like 9g servos and a massive motor. I'm trying to use a Mobula class motor and 1.7g servos. I'm curious about your AUW (total weight). I'm shooting for < 100g without battery. I hope the tiny motor can pull that!

Ted Hancock hey thanks mah man! That means alot to me! Yeah was just using those 9gm servos as those would suffice. AUW is about 270gms inclusive of battery! I think with smaller motors it would be much lighter! Thanks for watching bruh!

Oooh! I cant remember. I think it was some sorta 2mm wire? I got them off a hobby shop if im not mistaken. That was like just before the covid lockdown.

Hi I'm completely new to making rc planes I don't even know how to fly one l Should I make this?? Everything seems easy to me except the part where you do trimming to fly it properly. Is it easy to trim?

Hey thanks for watching and apologies for the late reply. The trims are only adjusted when flying... when u see the plane pulling to one side or going up too much or going down too much. This was my 2nd plane... so Im just as new! If you asked me, YES!!! You should build it and learn about it as you go along

Great video, is that a 2s or 3s battery? And how many mah is?

hey thanks man!!! I tried them on both 2S and 3S(XT30) and I found that it flew better on a 3S. It was flown with a 3S 350mah lipo... but a 550 one or larger would be much better but also dependant on the weight. Not something too heavy as it defeats the purpose. Thanks for dropping by bruh!

The lipo I used was a 3S 350MAH from CNHL u can use your 2200kv motor with 5 inch drone props. The triblade ones. Not biblades.

1000kv moter will work ?

for 1000kv it might not fly as well. So I do recommend a higher KV motor.

and we have to use cw motor and cw props to ccw motor and ccw props

yup. Or u can just rewire 1 of the ESC wire and use whatever prop u have which is what I did.

thanks bruh! I used a CNHL 3s 350mah lipo for this chuck glider RC. The 2s 1000mah xrider doesnt have enough power for this...

I used a 3s 350mah for this build. You can use either a large capacity 2s or a small capacity 3s

Make sure ur motors are tilted abit to the left, u can add washers on the motor mount. im assuming its leaning right as the prop is counter clockwise. And check the center of the ailerons

@@shogunemperor It was a bit of a MUTE point for this video where no information was being spoken whilst being drowned out by the background Musak and the kill button is available to the user! 😜😂 But I often wonder why people bother with "musical" additions. (I take it that it is NOT obligatory?!) Surely it is better to have a clean audio and let the end user play their own choice of Mozart or Megadeath in their headphones while watching? 🙂 Aside from that, a top effort young fellah! 👍👍
