As a drummer, I really appreciate how fluid Bun is behind the kit. He just rolls around it like nobody’s business and that left hand is playing ghost notes all over the place. Stick twirls and cymbal chokes, to boot. A true master at work. If anything, I think he’s improved with age.
@cynben7115 жыл бұрын
Agree! He's smooth, and his tone is so warm.
@prn245 жыл бұрын
I agree. He has improved his snare play with a rolling thunder beat that is so smooth. It's was his day to shine with his peers in the audience. I saw CT 3 years ago with Dax. He's okay I guess. Bun E. makes it so effortless.

Mr. Bun E. Carlos was ALWAYS SO VERY VERY GOOD. We can only thank him for it.
@amb27455 жыл бұрын
What I didn't realize also (being a drummer myself) is that Bun can play the kit left handed and right handed. Not many drummers can do both and do it well. I'm a right handed drummer, which as a drummer is kinda like being a left-handed guitarist. It isn't natural, per se. But growing up drumming right handed, I began to see other right handed drummers like Phil Collins, Mike Gibbins (Badfinger), etc, then when I saw the video for Cheap Trick's "The Flame" saw Bun play right handed.

Bun E. Carlos, a drummer who earned his place through dedication and “keeping the groove” in the history books; “Live At Budokan “ is now in the Library of Congress 🤟 as “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant “ (and he’s still entitled to 25% of the every dollar earned in the band’s catalog)

I'm not sure what all of the ruckus was about between him and the other members but he to what I've learned took the high road and didn't get into character assasination.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performances have exposed two very real but overlooked truths. The drummer matters!!!! Two seconds into "I Want You to Want Me" instantly displays that it was the perfect and solid drumming of Bun E. Carlos that made this band feel as good as they did!! He is most certainly the "Ringo" of his era. Feel first..feel second..rinse and repeat. Perfection! This would again be proven when Heart was inducted. After decades apart, the moment drummer Michael Derosier kicked into "Crazy on You", the stars and planets aligned, and the world was right once again! As soon they changed bands and played "Barracuda", everything was wrong again! Striking contrast just one song removed from each other! And please, Robin Zander is simply one of the greatest rock vocalists of ALL-TIME!!
@satinwhip4 жыл бұрын
Glad they set aside their differences for an evening to come together for this. It's a special night. Rick's son is a very capable drummer but this band doesn't sound the same unless these four guys are on stage. Bun E. is so much more than just a timekeeper. These guys really sound just as good as they did in 1978. Amazing.

Robin's vocals are as great as they were in the late 70s. Rick Neilsen is one of the baddest lead guitarists on the planet. He's melodic, but hard! Last, but not least, the inventor of the 12 string bass guitar, Tom Peterssen. They're masters!

My son just mentioned this band , and we watched this together. Thank you for all the songs. Pretty touching to watch time pass to the tunes of eternity.

Bun is the man. Watching him as a kid drummer gave me the gift of being relentless for live gigs.

Damn! They still got it all these years later!

Saw them for the 1st time this New Years Eve. Was not expecting much for a band whose members are upwards of 70 years old...best live band I have ever seen, and one of the loudest.

*A band isn't the same without their original Drummer, once Bun left I stopped seeing them in concert, sadly , this will probably be the only time you'll ever see him ever drumming with Cheap Trick, they just aren't the same band without him*

I saw Cheap Trick at the Brat Stop bar, in Wisconsin in 1976. It was the first bar over the illinois state line. Drinking at was 18, and we saw them for free. Great times.

This is where it all started for me... first concert ever: Cheap Trick and .38 Special at Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio. 1981, forty fuckin years ago, I was thirteen and it all made sense from then on. Rock and roll as guys like these could deliver it can change the world. Certainly how I viewed it forever. Thank you for all you gave us guys

Really solid. I was worried for him. I shouldn't have been.

k lets be reasonable here ..he retired for his own reasons...whatever they may be...at least Rick Nielsons son is holding down the fort...musicians do retire..what we see as entertainment ...this is there job....and everybody retires at some point no matter what their occupation is....

@@timsears951 Really?? You think that loping rushing beat is 'holding down the fort?' You can't be serious.
