13x6" snares usually have good pop to them. The Joey Jordison that's directly after is just half an inch deeper, i.e almost the exact same, and it's very popular because it has a very good pop/crack and it's loud as hell.

You can fix anything in post. :) More seriously, stuff like this is why, as a guitarist, I use BFD 3+ and Superior Drummer. I mix and match every drum manufacturer depending upon what makes the best sounds. DW kicks? Mapex toms? No problem. It's expensive being a drummer. I did find a very useful Noble and Cooley snare sample in BFD 3.5. Noble and Cooley seem to be a really high end drum company on part with DW that for some reason doesn't seem as popular in metal as Tama and Pearl. Maybe @66Samus can enlighten me as to why Noble and Cooley aren't a better known brand in metal despite their quality and age as a company?

The black Ddrum and the 1st cheapest snare are my favorite sounds in my humble opinion. The more expensive they got, the less I liked the sound. 💯 They seemed to get darker and deeper sounding as they got more expensive. A snare drum shouldn't sound deep and dark in my opinion. The snare should be more high end and snappy... 🤔
