The first 'off cuts' from each side would make great table tops for an industrial style bench!

Hi Ciaran I agree with you. You can definitely reuse these pieces and make some great stuff especially if you add epoxy resin and you are handy with a welding machine. I have also seen people using these pieces for making coat hangers in log csbins and loads of other stuff. Thanks for your comment mate

Okay it wouldn't be an "industrial style" bench it would be a rustic style or a natural wood bench

Hi Felix and thank you for your nice comment. I would highly recommend the sawmill as it is a great tool to have at this price. It can be very practical to have if you have access to trees you can cut for woodworking projects. Thanks for watching and for your support🤝

What size guide bar and ripping chain(pitch and drive links) did you use for your MS261? I have a MS 261C and have been told I would need to change the guide bar and sprocket to fit the available ripping chains.

I just use my standard 18" .325 bar and 72 link chain. To be honest I am not planning to use it much, probably 1 a year at most so I was happy with the results for my investment and didnt want to spend more as this saw is not meant for a lot of milling and didnt want to spend more on ripping chain etc. If you are going to use it like myself I would just make sure the chain is very sharp and use the std chain and bar

And people say you can't mill with a small saw. Looks like it did a good job.

Yes. Not a bad job at all for the size of the saw.

Well, at least a ripping chain would not be much of an investment and you'll gain a lot of ease on the saw, if you plan to do more of milling.

What size is your bar? I have a 20" on my 261 with .325 chain. Is that ripping chain?

Hi. I have an 18" bar on my saw with normal .325 chain on it. Thanks for your comment 🤝🏻

Were there any screw holes in the boards from the ladder? Thanks. Nice video.
@TheKeenMechanic
@TheKeenMechanic 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Not really. You wouldn't notice much after planing and sanding. You dont have to use the ladder after the 1st cut but I prefer using the ladder as a guide every cut as it keeps the planks as flat as possible. Thanks for your message

Hi and thanks for watching. I milled a very old Leylandii tree. These are normally used as evergreen hedging. It is soft wood but seems much denser than pine

Isnt the ms261 a bit too under powered for milling?
@TheKeenMechanic
@TheKeenMechanic 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I agree it is a bit under powered. I only use it may be once a year for half a day and only for light milling so if you are planning to do milling regularely you are best buying ms462 or bigger. Thanks for watching and for your comment🤝
