We bought this Rare JDM at Copart salvage auction for only $2200 (cheapest in the USA). It was non running and in need of work, now it it dialed in. In addition, we went with a high flow resonated midpipe. I am shocked with how crazy good the new exhaust sounds! We made sure to include stock exhaust sounds so you can hear the before and after. Straight piping the RX8 would make it a little too loud and raspy, so overall I love this happy middle setup! #RX8 #Rotary #eBayPartner

Funny, I went the other way around with mine: My car came with a cheap Toyosport catback when I bought it. Sounded great when pushed hard but droned like mad in town and at motorway speeds. That made it a chore to use the car as a daily driver and a very bad cruiser! Swapped it for an original R3 catback (my car is a S1 192) and it solved all the problems: Quiet in town, no droning at cruising speeds and howls like a banshee near the red line. Perfect! I'll fit in an aftermarket catback in the next two years, but it'll be a Racing Beat Revi! No more cheap parts for my 8!

Great to see the R3 back. I love my rx8. The mid pipe hi flow cat and rear exhaust makes it breath and sounds so amazing with the 13b probs one of the best things with the rotary….the sound turns heads everywhere!

Seriously considered getting one of these recently, grew to love the styling. I was planning on daily driving it, but the running costs alone, with petrol being as expensive as it is, I would be bankrupting myself 😢

This makes me almost cry, I miss my rx8 2004 straight pipe doing some pop up flames as the video you show. My dad still got an 2009 with A/T transmission but it's good anyways

Around 4 years ago I added a possibly identical cheap ebay exhaust to my series 1 RX-8. Such a good sound, especially through tunnels! And before I replaced my cat (which was similarly burned through), it did pop & 🔥. So beautifully anti-social.

Always seemed to have pretty good luck with ebay parts. Especially with exhausts..Even headers they typically bolt right up and just work.

Carbon roof? I don't remember yours having one before. I have an R3 so I know it ain't factory. You should keep it and go full bridge or hybrid renesis. Love your content 👌

Nice vid. The exhaust tips on the catback are sitting really high and narrow to the bumper - I believe that exhaust was made for the S1 (2003-2008), since the S2/R3 (2008+) has a lower tip positioning on the rear bumper in comparison and typically had to have exhausts/tip sections custom made for it. Might be worth trying to adjust it? Lower/longer exhaust hangers on the rear section can sometimes make it sit better.

The exhaust fits the S1 pre 09 cars better. And the rear section bolts right up to the stock mid section. If you go with a turbo xs high flow cat you will have to widen the muffler pipe.

Mom has a 2005 Shinka. I was doing some exhaust mods on my cars & she said she wanted something to make hers sound sportier. Most of the exhaust is so expensive . I thought worst case, I can keep her stock stuff in mint condition in case she ever wanted to sell it in the future. I debated about the cheaper versions but wondered how ricey they would sound. Now I have a video to show her... Who knows she might wake up to a Christmas surprise! ;) How has the exhaust held up & does it still sound good after breaking in?

Did that new cat burn up yet? The huge overbuilt mazda cat barely stands up and sometimes doesnt. Test pipe and Cobb tuner is the way.

As far as I know you don't really need to on newer rx8s, the engine self lubricates itself

Don’t forget to fill some 2 stroke oil in the fuel. It will help to keep the rotary chamberwall lubed when you have cold startup’s. I just to be a wankel engineer at Mazda in Norway, so I been trough my part of these engines😅 But with the right amount of maintenance it can actually hold on for a good time.
