The problem with outback is consistency. It all depends on who the managing partner is and how they run it. When my friend ran the one up the street from me, it was fantastic. Always great food cooked to the right temperature. When she left and her friend took over as managing partner, the service went downhill as did the cooking. The new manager couldn't maintain staff after Covid hit, so now I don't go there as much.

Fun fact. The Porterhouse is not otherwise known as a T-bone. They’re from the same cut, but the difference is, on a T-bone most of the tenderloin has been removed, while on a Porterhouse the majority of the tenderloin is still intact. The tenderloin itself is know as the Filet Mignon.

It's not removed on the T-bone, the filet just naturally tapers from one end of the animal to the other. If you cut all the T-bones from a side of beef, you'll generally get a mix of Porterhouse and T-bones, with the difference that I've heard being whether the filet is 3" or more in width.

Server at Ruth’s Chris here. The reason other steakhouses are more expensive is because of the grade of the meat being served. In order of increasing marbling (meaning intra muscular fat content AKA flavor), you have Select, Choice, and Prime. Places like Outback uses Select, making it cheaper than higher end places that only serve Prime grade. The difference is very noticeable when you compare them side to side. Also, higher end places use special broilers at very high temperatures to create a beautiful crust to make it even better. Hope this helps someone! 👍
@mattschmitt99246 ай бұрын

The Outback I used to work at had a bunch of tiny roaches in its drawers/cabinets, and when I asked about it to my manager on my second day, they brushed it off and just said that “they’ve always been there”. I quit maybe 3 weeks later since the promise of students going home early on Sundays was consistently broken(we were meant to leave at 10 but most of us left close to 11), breaks were never issued properly even though we worked longer than 4 hours, and the general hygiene was horrendous. (I also got paid $10.11 an hour when I was 16) My friend works at another location and it’s the location I go to now. It’s clean, mostly consistent with the quality of the cooking (as long as you know what days to go) and the service is great.

I currently work at outback as a side job in college. Honest answer is it completely depends on location. My outback’s food is pretty fantastic, but the one 25 mins from us is not good at all. Even though everything is “the same” at each outback in regards to menu there are some managing partners (and higher up the ladder JVPs) who can absolutely run an establishment into the ground.

A loong time back in Buffalo, NY there was a restuarant in my neighborhood called Elmwood Outback. So franchise Outback opens a unit in suburban Amherst at least 20m away annnd..bullied Elmwood to change their name! They changed to Cozumel & it did OK but I'll never eat @ any Outback anyway.. Will always love Jim's Steak Out:)!

I work at an Outback and somehow the KZfaq algorithm knew and brought me here…. FYI in my opinion the best cut is the ribeye.

"it's a fried crispy onion, so you can't really go wrong with that." I beg to differ.

I only eat at Outback House Extreme. Instead of beef steak and blooming onion, I ordered Elephant Steak and blooming pumpkin with galon of vodka.
