I never tried it but always thought about catching the #60 which is the Kaneohe Circle Island bus which would get you to the north shore from town. From there you would have to transfer to the 52 or 51 to come back into the town area. It does seem like an all-day thing and something to plan ahead of time. I'm still in the planning part LOL. Actually getting out to do so I think I am chicken LOL.

We’ve taken the bus every time we visit waikiki... now one way$2.75 to waikiki from airport and its abt one hour ... we’be also used the bus to just ride and go all around d island... hotel parking is expensive at $35 a night so bus for us is the best and day pass if i recall is around $5 a day... yes bus is slow on wekeends...our fave poke place is in waikiki Maguro Brothers... Foodland is good as well

The bus is amazing. Lisa used to take it every day to and from work and the bus pass was her best friend. The day pass is $5 for the entire day, which is great deal! We also recently learned about the Holo card, which lets you pre-load your card and not have to use a paper pass anymore. www.holocard.net/ Mmm Maguro Brothers is so good! :D Thanks for watching and sharing!

Actually, you can actually ride all the way to North Shore too, not just Kaneohe (take route 60, Kaneohe - Haleiwa)

From what I can understand the bus is mainly for local people rather than tourists (Arizona Memorial bus excepted of course). I was thinking of taking the bus to the North Shore until I saw that it had over 150 potential stops and takes about 3 hours from Waikiki!

Whoever fed you that info tidbit, has their wires crossed! On #52/Honolulu-Haleiwa, from Ala Moana SC-->90mins. On #60, same destination E-bound-->90-130mins

if you are starting in Waikiki I would recommend you take the 23 to Windward Mall (the 23 turns into the 69 at Sea Life Park) and then transfer to route 60 to take it to Haleiwa where you will transfer to route 52 that will take you back to Ala Moana where you can find a way to get to Waikiki from. and if you want to go to Waianae (which you shouldn't) you could transfer to route 51 from 52 at the Mililani Transit Center and take that down to the (you could get off at Pearl Highlands but you would have to walk more) Pearlridge Skyline Station and get on the Skyline or cross the street and get on route 40 if you get on the Skyline then you should ride to the University of Hawai'i Skyline Station where you will get on 40 or C to take you to Waianae. and then to get back to Ala Moana from Waianae just take 40 or C (C will be faster)

" On time " 🚌 !!! WOW !! Excellent !! I am thinking about taking my mom to Wikiki & Oahu the next January for her birthday 🎂 celebration 🍾!!! My mom lived there briefly in her early 20's ! I've been to Hawaii w/ her & separately before 5 , 6 times total !! But,it's been a long time ever since !! I personally hate renting cars ( although I love driving & I am an excellent driver !! ) ,especially in a foreign country ,or a place I don't know so well & their traffic laws !! Lol .I have never driven there ! Driving in L.A.is enough for me ! Lol.She has developed a mobility issue ,so busses will be a good choice for her !! And it'll save my $$ !! Lol Thank you so much for this one !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🏝✈️🚌💞

Awesome! I would much prefer a decent bus system to crush hour on H1. I wanted to see what it would be like with the masking requirements, and it's fine. Surprisingly uncrowded. $5.50 is a deal - it's a cheap tour! And it has a bike carrier. Thank you!

I know ! It's not for 1st timers ,or someone wanna go around the whole island ,or get the most ...,but busses are ways to get to a few locations at the cheapest expense on a day & people like us who have already been there before & just wanna get to a couple of specific destinations besides walking around & staying in one area mostly. Also ,busses allow us to do more sightseeing if we get the right seats !! Thank you! You just gave me a great idea for a video... :) for us, now that we have a cheap car, it's a no brainer - having a car is totally, absolutely worth it. The bus just didn't work for us - it always took too long, wasn't running at the times we wanted it to, didn't go the areas we wanted to go to... we like to explore, so a car was for sure the right choice for us.
