I'm very fortunate to call Deborah a friend because she is one of the most inspiring people I know. Life dealt her a nasty blow with a severe brain injury, but she has thrived in spite of it. She discovered that living in a van was ideal for her limitations and it turned around and extended the length and quality of her life.

I can't believe that she would have had to give them up even though her neurosurgeon had endorsed them as service/companion animals. Unusual. Must have been a special circumstance -- that particular unit that she had the best chance of scoring had the no-pet-whatsoever stipulation. I would think in the case of government-subsidized housing, they would have to allow therapy animals.
@dalekundtz4603
@dalekundtz4603 5 жыл бұрын
@@quickchris10comcast : I live in government housing after medical issues cost me my savings. They do allow animals, but limit us to one dog or cat and security deposits for the animal. Being in a wheelchair, I have a cat so I do not have to take him out three times a day and he can be by himself for a couple days if I end up back in the hospital. His companionship means so much to me. I miss traveling though like I used to. Do not know why it surprises people that even service animals are rejected at government housing places. Many of these places do not care about people there as the direction comes from the top. Just listen or check what people like Dr. Carson feel about us. He wants to cut financial aid to us and double our rents. Most of us are NOT here by choice if we want a roof over our head. Food at the once a month food pantry can be as old as one year outdated.

What a lovely, endearing woman! It's no wonder that she has devoted friends. I am truly humbled by her perseverance in a life that has really left her a shit pile to deal with. And Bob, thank you for being there for her. I sense that your guidance and friendship helped her make this healing life possible. As someone else said, one gets so frustrated with humankind and the way we are so terrible to one another. And then we meet this woman who is off the charts amazing and we learn of all the people who have taken her under their wing. It's heartwarming. And you know what else I love? She is offering help to others. And every time you help her find a word that is missing in her head, she thanks you. She doesn't act frustrated or angry with the help. She is genuinely happy and grateful. Wow. I, for one, I am really humbled. Thank you Debra and Bob for sharing.

I am really grateful to have found and subcribed to this channel, and this video is very inspiring, indeed. I am disabled and will be without any kind of housing in the middle of August. As of now, living in a car, van or rv seems like the only realistic option for me. I am hoping to have the funds by then to afford something mechanically reliable. This channels is helping me cope day to day. Thank you so much.

I'm 46 and was diagnosed with MS about 4 years ago. My symptoms are also triggered by noise, external stimuli, and more than anything-stress. When I was 5yo I told my dad I wanted to live in a school bus and travel, that I wanted to be a 'bus driver'. I've had a long and difficult life, as a lot of folks do, but always managed to find a way. Almost always lived with others to share rent/expenses, So I'm very good with living with others. Now that my body is failing, I'm always a half step away from being homeless. Its terrifying. I had a 15' camper that was stolen from me before I could even fully move in, or insure it, lost almost everything I owned, and lost my beloved kitties. I'm desperately trying to figure out how to survive now. This video gives me hope. Thank you.❤

@@coleenburris6816 Hey Col, that's fantastic. I live in PA and before my ex's dad passed away he got to live a few years of retirement out in the Poconos. He just loved the peace of the mountains. Sadly he was exposed to agent orange during Vietnam and passed away way before his due time. Me, I have another 11 years before I can take early retirement! I will then have 17 plus years at a local govt job, my pension, my deferred comp (like a 401 k but no employer match due to pension) and SS of it's still around 😂. In the mean time I devour all the van builds I can on KZfaq. So I can plan out what will hopefully be my first and last van build !! Thanks for asking 😘

I also want to help others after I get myself set up and on the road. Id love to set up a fund for folks to help those disabled to be able to get a van, bus, etc. To live life out there healing with nature. It wouldn't take much to come together to help others to be able to do this. It can be hard getting started, as I know because I'm having hard time getting funds together to get van. But I will because I'm determined. Bob has giving me the strength and knowledge to make it happen. Blessings to all of you, but double blessing to Bob for being a hero. You might not think of yourself as a hero Bob. But I guarantee you, myself and probably thousands of others consider you to be a hero.

I'm a fairly new subscriber (a few months) as I bought a used travel trailer last summer & parked it at the home I rent. I want to live frugally and minimally and in a small space. I'll be moving to my daughter's property soon, living in a travel trailer, so looking for tips and to learn about tț and such, and found Bob's channel. I've watched other videos cutting Bob down at his last RTR. Everyone has their own opinions and 'lenses' that they view others actions and motives through, but you know people by their 'fruit ' and Bob seems to be a wonderful person who helps people in the RV life. I hear people talk about how he and others are truly a blessing for them and help with needs - that says it all👍

I love Bob Wells and his videos because they are about ordinary people from every walk of life. I love how his videos are about people who have challenges and adversities. Sometimes I feel like the other Van/RV videos only focus on the rich and people with money, wealth and lots of family and available resources. I love how Bob interviews regular people and shows how they can create a van/RV out of nothing and turn it into something amazing and comfortable. This gives people like me hope that I can have this same lifestyle with little money. I love this story it really touched my heart! Thank you so much for sharing this story Bob!

Wow - just wow. Found your channel awhile ago and have been watching videos and admire so many of the people you have spoken to. My parents did this years ago - retired at 55, sold the house and traveled/lived in their 5th wheel for many years. They did stay in campgrounds so didn't boon dock - and also had a mobile home on a lake for summer stays - but I remember how many people thought they were crazy! Several of my mom's sisters contacted me trying to figure out how to stop them! They couldn't comprehend but we all did - they were very proud that all of their homes had wheels!! However, to see Deborah manage this and actually thrive is so special. Thank you for your channel...and especially for this interview and I LOVE her van!

How inspiring is your story. I am an Occupational Therapist and have work with many TBI patients and your ability to overcome your adversity is phenomenal. Due to multiple health issues I also had to unexpectedly go on disability. Then I also developed a balance problem that they are having a difficulty diagnosing. I had always wanted to travel the country camping with my husband in a van and have been watching Cheap RV Living videos for a while. Since developing my balance problem I had come to the decision that maybe I should give up that dream. After seeing your video I have decided that I will make it work!!!!! Liz, I'm so glad to hear you are pursuing your dreams. How kind of your son to offer his support. If possible to attend the RTR you would learn so much from so many people. I also encourage you to join the forum at cheaprvliving.com. I hope to see you on the road.

Hey Bob want to start out by seeing how much I love your videos and how humble and kind you are this woman has touched a note I am presently living on board my trawler in Miami cruising the intercoastal waterway a lifetime New England commercial fisherman with serious health problems just about to move into an apartment in Maine and after seeing this lady and hearing her story I suffer from some of the same things and I need a lot of the same things quiet no nonsense no drama I have come to the conclusion that I will not sell my boat because that is the main thing that keeps me alive from going to get running water in the morning to different chores just to stay afloat and alive I absolutely love it I have been blessed with this life at sea so I just wanted to thank you so much me coming across a five-year-old KZfaq video but at the perfect perfect time my family in Boston is begging me to come home it is 84° here in Miami today come on dude I don't want to make snowmen I already did that on George's Bank my whole life and you know what it was a lot of money but it was a lot of work and in the end what do you do work retire and die I am living my bucket list my friend God bless keep up the good work keep helping these people live their dream we can all do this you just have to do it if you sit there and watch KZfaq videos and live life through these people that are actually living life then shame on you because we all live and die in the money in the end doesn't make a bit of difference same old hole in the ground 💙🙏👣

Deborah 😄 you "go girl!" I've had 2 brain surgeries. First 30Sept2015. Second 1June2016. Have the MRIs quarterly along with blood work. Still have 7mm tumor on Left side of my head. I was a smart kid too, integrated schools in California starting age 6 in 1967. You are so brave, being out there on your own. But you've clearly gotten blessed to meet generous people who will help you to do the things that make you happy. Proud of you lady and keeping you in my prayers.👏🏾🤗
