This guy is WAY too laid back. His wife is served papers on his birthday, she takes his car and disappears without a word. I know in similar circumstances most guys just want the divorce (no more hassle/drama/headache). But OP seemed too indifferent about his situation and how he would fair after she was gone. After all she did, he just sits, drinks and does NOTHING. It took him DAYS later to cancel his wife’s cards, report his car as stolen and learn the truth about his ex’s infidelity. Later he is simply indifferent about divorcing her 3 years later.

I mean when you think about it he’s older (20 years of marriage) she ran away with no way to find her, and he on chance found her 3 years later. I’m sure he was over it at that point

The wife also had to abandon her new prestigious life & now has to find another rich sucker, goodbye golden goose & goodbye being a politician's wife again. Undoubtedly she stole a fortune & at this point is well out of the country I reckon.

So Darla gets to have her affair, then runs away with zero consequences. She makes a new life being the beard for a politician. Again with zero consequences. She gets her divorce and runs away from her politician husband so she can go con some other idiot all over again. And again, with zero consequences. I'm happy that 'Brian' got to live happily ever after in his South Dakota gravel pit, but where exactly was the payback? Other than beating the AP (twice) and going to jail (twice) ?

Actually he had Jaco beat up the AP for yet a third time. Darla didn't really get away scott free. She lost all contact with her children who now knew what she had done and probably wouldn't talk to her anyway after what she did. She gave up a comfortable suburban life for a life on the run for over 3 years. Cuts all ties with her own side of their family. Not that they'd talk to her after what she did. Did not even bother to collect her half of the shared assets from a divorce. Committed a crime (polygamy) that got her bad press that no doubt made it back to her family. She did more damage to herself than MC could have dreamed possible.

@@presterjohn9088 It never ceases to amaze me that people think these stories are written by AI. LOL. These stories are usually hoisted from places like LitErotica and are written by human authors who put them on literary websites run by and for writers. Writers who know these stories won't sell but write them for their own entertainment and to entertain others. I've even written a new short stories myself. A SCI-Fi short and an erotic date story. Writing them was a flight of fancy and it's not something I do often.

I didn't like the story that much. The betrayed husband behaved in a detached manner towards his wife. He did practically nothing to take revenge on her, he limited himself to beating her lover while her wife apparently did not suffer any damage.
