After owning the car for less that a month, I have encountered my first problem...A dead battery and a check engine light. The problem code was P0685 diagnosed using the BlueDrive Scanner.

Normally, these cars are bulletproof. But the battery will throw all kinds of lights on the -If the battery is going bad period, the voltage regulator is very sensitive. Other than that, you have an awesome vehicle. I should know since I have one too.

@nascarnord2278, I looked through the forums to see the reliability of the 4C before I bought one. I always thought I would buy a Lotus but somehow I ended up with the 4C. I haven’t taken it on fun twisty road yet but it’s a fun car even in regular streets. I’m not worried too much about reliability. I looked forward to putting some miles on it. Thank for watching! And enjoy your 4c!

@JioniDrive Of course, my channel is Alfa Life 305. You can see some clips of my car on the track. I do have a customer tune, upgraded exhaust, and V2 intake from Eurocompulsion. Now, my goal is to get the Phase 3 tune and intercooler from Eurocompulsion this winter. These cars are set up for track from the factory, but I'm chasing 1/4 track times, and the car is worlds of different fast now, and I can't wait until winter. I will certainly make a video as I get the setup for the car done. I perform all the work on my car as well. It's been an experience

@@nascarnord2278 Have you changed the suspension setup? What tires are you running? My car has the original P Zero tires. I want to reduce tramlining.

@JioniDrive No I have the factory suspension. The car has those suspension blocks that you put behind the front control arms. It makes a big difference. I have 215 40 18 in front and 265 35 19 in the rears. The tires are called Three A. I never heard of them but they were good on price, and they've done their job on the track.

@@nascarnord2278 265 in the back? I did not think you can go that wide! When I first drove the 4C, I thought it needed more tire. I was going to go up to 245 on the back but I might try 255. If wide tires do not fix tramlining, I will have to do the blocks.

Battery prices are getting ridiculous these days. I think the scanner is a good tool esp for these modern cars that throw codes for even small things. Glad it got sorted in the end & hope she stays trouble free now. See you in the next one bro 👍🏽

@Kapil-Patel, I will keep the scanner around. The car is pretty simple. I believe the only complicated part is the transmission. It’s a small fun car. Thanks 🙏🏾 for watching bro!

I think for a car at this performance level, it’s not expensive to maintain. Even if you had a “budget” sports car like a Cayman, the cost to service will be a lot more due to the engine layout being less repair-friendly. I just finished my timing belt change. Parts was $300 which included,2 belts, water pump, tensioner, pulley, coolant, 5w40 synth oil, air filter and oil filter. That’s cheap, on the level of a Honda civic. Labor was free, because I did it myself.

@155stw, thanks for sharing! I think the maintenance is low unless you rely on the dealership to do everything. Even the fuel mileage is better than my daily driver.

@joshheinz5328, I had to deal with the important issue first. I don’t even know why they have a calendar on this car. Eventually….in few months, I will have the clock and date fixed…

Every 2 years change the battery better 👍 for precaution

@MB-zt9eo, If you do battery maintenance, it will last at least 3-4 years. It would be nice to replace it every 2 years but they are getting pricey.

I only had transmission shifting issues prior to changing the battery. No check engine

@TalalBuHazza, it’s interesting how low voltage manifest in these cars. Shifting issues would probably scare me more than a check engine light.

@@JioniDrive the problem is that the issue came back again, thank god it was just the break sensor. Not a lot documented on the 4C forums. That might be a common issue for early models where the TCU wasn’t weather proofed and can cause shorts in the wiring or module.

@AntonioTalarico, my battery died without a warning (although it’s a car that get driven once a week). The CEL stayed on even after I replaced the battery. I had to reset it. Hopefully the video was helpful. Thank you for watching.

If you dont know how to fix cars you should probably not be messing around with an Alfa. 😅 take that beautiful machine to a shop please to have it looked at by a professional.

@Andi-jc6qr, I think you meant to say ‘do not drive with a cold engine’ engine temp was already at 195* F. After buying an expensive car from a dealership, the last thing you expect is to replace the battery in less than a month of ownership.
