You live, you learn)

I am highly allergic to herbicides and pesticides and I cannot eat anything GMO, which means that just the act of feeding myself here in western Europe is a huge struggle which needs 100% of my attention and in case of 0,5% doubt, I can't eat it, unless I want to risk a whole list of symptoms that ranges from a raging itch to risking my life by choking. It is always a surprise what's next. While I was in St. Petersburg I discovered at the market that all the fruits and veggies looked crooked, like mother nature meant them to be. I tried this and that...and NO reaction at all, then I went further and had a meal at a restaurant, I was fine. Then I even bought dessert in a bakery, no reaction at all. Man, that was to me a totally new life experience. Whenever I see people video food in russian supermarkets or in stores I could just drewl and imagine myself back to St. Petersburg. If I were younger, I would definitely consider moving to Russia. Of course I have at least 5 more good reasons to want to do so, except for being relaxed when it comes to eating something. But I am old and of no use anymore to this wonderful country with its welcoming people! Good luck to you young man, you made the right decision!

@@marvelenia6702 Costs of living here are so much cheaper than in the west that by moving here you can actually set yourself for a better quality of life in the future. A $1k monthly income in Russia is above average, so prices are significantly lower as well. If you own property in your country and can rent it out, or if you have something in a retirement fund, you'll be able to get much better value out of those if you live in a "cheaper country. And Russia is much safer than an average "cheap" country. "Being of no use" is also far from truth. There's an insane demand for native English speakers here. Being a tutor can bring you a decent (by local standards) amount of money. What's more, from my own recent youth, I went to most of my tutors' homes to take lessons, so you don't have to actually commute to work in this sphere. Also, on food stuffs, there's a law that obliges producers to put respective markers if they use gmo products and stuff. There's been quite an influx of regulations on the foods market aimed at guaranteeing quality, like the now obligatory qr codes on all diary packaging that run through a government database and thus protect you from the market chains' attempts to rebrand out of date products as new ones. If it says it's fresh, it's 100% fresh or you can sue them rather easily.

In the south of Russia (Stavropol Territory, Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, Chechnya) in winter the temperature drops to -10 degrees Celsius, and if it does drop, it does not stay at these levels for long. About quality of construction, it doesn’t matter where you live, the house must be built according to standards so that there is no heat loss and other requirements that will help you save money in the future. In Russia, almost no one erects buildings made of wood, like in the USA, any house in Russia is a capital construction using solid materials and cement. The Russian mentality is formed in such a way that they do not consider a structure made of branches and straw to be a house =)

The Russian house or an apartment might not look as fancy as in the US but it's only the question of interior design. It's a huge market with almost anything possible for the money. You can always make it look spectacular. A bit more complicated to do that with the house but still not impossible. Also the majority of the Russian real estate was built during the times when people prioritised utility over looks. Now it changed and there're plenty of housing construction companies with ready-to-build house projects looking fancy. So it's not even a problem anymore :)

hehe, just in case there is more then everywhere in the world products made from milk. We drink milk when hot (cold milk), we drink hot milk in the winter, we drink milk with honey when we ill (get cold) and we drink it in all conditions (sourcream and etc)... So we prefer natural milk, from the cow:D And btw there is a lot of milk that lasts longer, but there is no chemistry, its just boiled to 100 C and paked in a special packege. So it lasts more longer but its still natural. U can find this kind of milk more often in all stores in Russia

Who are those 'we'?)) After drinking freshly drawned milk in the childhood no store-bought one is good enough for our family to drink it right away. Maybe only as an ingredient for cooking, but never as a drink of it all. Asked around in my circle - same. None drinks milk as it is.)) This does no apply to milk-based drinks i.e. kefir, rjazenka etc. P.s. pasteurized milk exists everywhere in the world - nothing special here. And, unfortunately, milk in russia is falling behind in taste and nutrients in comparison to say Finnish one. Yes, it's good and defo better than in most parts of North America, but not unique in any way. For instance, our top-quality milk (1 сорт или как там градация у них называется) is considered only 3rd or 2nd in terms of wuality according to Finnish standards. No offence, just a quick reality check.)

Interesting comment about housing construction. It is the way it is in US and other places (I live down under) because of cost of labour and also because of climate. When I was engaged in a gym, before sleeping I ate a couple of spoons of fat-free cottage cheese (excellent amino acids), tasteless (since it's fat-free), but useful for an athlete. But again, this is all individual, some people just can't eat cottage cheese at all.

Having a house or an apartment in Russia is very affordable. If you own it, you'll just keep 90-95% of income for yourself because the fees and costs are very low in Russia. And the property tax you pay once a year and it is extremely low, something like 3-10 USD. And newly built houses in Russia have high quality, good isolation and soundproof.

Soviet buildings look trash because of anarchy. Seriously, all they have to do is make it illegal for people to glaze their balconies and windows and you have fixed 50% of the problem. The remaining is for the government to spend some money on renovating the facades a little

absolutely right. There are bans in some cities, but they are not observed because there are no fines. In my city, I have repeatedly contacted the mayor’s office about this issue. They finally passed the law, but no one is checking. And old glazing that is not according to the design need not be demolished. This is all terrible, but I hope that the fines will be tightened sooner or later. In new houses, the rules are more or less followed.
@dicecorporation
@dicecorporation Ай бұрын
@@18185277 In some cities, entire blocks organize by agreeing with their neighbours to not glaze their building, but those are all private initiatives. It would be quite easy to resolve the issue if they just passed a law a la "all houses built before 1950 (or something like that) must be returned to their natural state by 2035, otherwise you will pay a hefty fine on top of that". That could give people time to actually prepare for the shift and do this for all buildings over time. Buildings that are marked for demolition should receive an exemption

Man, you're good! Athlete, family man, broad-minded, not afraid of Western propaganda and honestly describing the advantages and disadvantages. A real man! As for the disadvantages, I would add a remnant of the Soviet mentality, because of which people care little about cleanliness and good looks. The inside is usually fine, but the outside is rubbish and dirt. They say in the US it's exactly the opposite, haha.

That's not soviet mentality, thats 90s mentality when traitors like Gorbachev and Yeltsin destroyed and sold our country to the west and we are only beginning to recover from that right now. In USSR it would be unheard of to see dirty streets with rubbish or homeless people anywhere, somebody in the administration would have a really bad day if that happened. To give you an idea how clean it was, every Saturday we had people gathering to clean our street and the same was done in all schools as a tradition. None of this was mandatory, it was simply in the culture to do that. Sure we didn't have streets as clean as say Germany or Switzerland, but all that litter in the streets and in general dirtiness came with the 80s-90s when everything just collapsed, culturally, economically, i would even say spiritually.

Btw regarding the 'natural' dirt you mentioned (sand, dust, etc.) it is also caused by geographical specifics of russian soil in the european part having way more clay % in its composition, well, way more than central and western Europe at least - can't really say about US, should differ from place to place. But as a mountain bike enjoyer I notice this very much in the forest, riding trails. In Czech Republic for example, if it rained in the morning, I can go ride a bike in the evening and all the water would be drained already, it will be almost as dry as if it never rained. Now here in Moscow, if it rained in the morning, attempting to ride for the next week would result in my bike fully covered in mud... 😅 Maybe exaggerating a little, but yeah, that also extends to the streets - sometimes heavy rains even cause tiny mudflows across sidewalks and roads, during winter cars will get this thin fine ''mud tan" from almost any driving to the point that many people do not wash their cars at all - since it will get back to that state in just one ride. Of course, that stays true to european part of Russia, in Karelia its a lot rockier already.
