Just in case anyone's wondering - it's the solo to Winter Madness by Wintersun, originally written and recorded by Jari Mäenpää. Teemu took over lead guitar duties live when Jari decided to focus more on vocals. And as you can tell he did a pretty sick job, to say the least.

For sure dude. There are Vids out there where Teemu is kind of explaining his playing style/practice routine etc. And basically he says that the most important thing is to absolutely master the fundamentals. Like completely perfecting his picking technique, super basic hand coordination, stuff like that. Which really isn't super surprising or anything, but for me personally, as someone who recently took up learning guitar, it's pretty encouraging to hear such advice coming from an absolute master like Teemu.
@Mr._Lister_The_Sister_Phister
@Mr._Lister_The_Sister_Phister 3 ай бұрын
@@crazyjoedavola7493I've thought about that alot actually haha. Like, what would it be like to have Jari himself teaching you how to play his own material? I can honestly imagine Jari being a fairly shitty teacher. Just because he's such a virtuoso. I mean for Jari, there's really no skill limitation. If he can envision it in his head, he's gonna be able to play it, no matter how tough it is. Where most guitarists might have to contend with issues such as improving their sweep picking abilities, or improving their hand coordination for super fast alternate picking, Jari doesn't really have those same barriers. Not that he never warms up or maintains his fundamentals, but he's just such a virtuoso that all these skills are basically natural and intuitive for him. I mean, imagine trying to explain to someone how to walk, even if that person knows how already. "You just put one foot in front of the other", but that's really no better than saying "you just...do it. You just walk". There's probably a better example than that, but I think it gets the point across. I can totally see Jari trying to explain to Teemu how to play, idk, the "Eternal Darkness" solo, and Jari being like: "OK to play this sweep section is easy, all you have to do is this...*starts sweeping at full speed* " 😂😂

Holy F_ck, I had only heard of his name in passing as part of Wintersun, who I've never had the chance to listen to much either, just that they were quite talented... but *that* is a colossal understatement! This is some of the most fluid and effortless playing of very complicated runs, arpeggios and thrash riffs I've ever seen, he's _so smooth_ it's mindblowing, "talented" does not begin to describe it. Truly worthy replacement for Kiko too.

I happened upon Troy's video a couple of year's ago and I was devastated by Yari's solo and Teemu's ability. He is a very special player, I am completely fascinated each time I see clips of him playing. I am also proud to say that my own transcription of this solo is identical to yours, Levi :D Just 3-4 very minor differences in note values. At 210 bpm, these often become imperceptible. I doubt I would have been able to do that, were it not for Teemu's ungodly precision and clarity and Troy's video. Still, I rarely transcribe and do it with a rather old version of Powertab, so a win is a win and I'll take it. :D

Drums is done by Kai Hahto). Later on Jari wanted to focus more on just singing on gigs, so Teemu took lead guitar role in Wintersun and they hired a new rhytm guitarist. This was a fun surprise. Remember watching this guy's projects somewhere around 2005-2008 or so, people thought the band would never get going and just be his desk drawer project. But eventually he did get some great people to play his music with him. Or I suppose it was Jari Mäenpää's project and he joined Mäenpää, and I listened to Mäntysaari on Imperanon before 2005 or so, it's getting a bit fuzzy these days. He was pretty quiet until apparently now Kiko couldn't join and recommended him. Not your ordinary Megadeth guitarist by any means to me - someone who grew up playing that typical Children of Bodom inspired Finnish power metal derives.

@@villes5727 that’s cool then if he’s actually getting to be apart of the whole thing now, but Jari needs to put out a studio cut of The Way of Fire. We’ve been asking for it for awhile now and it would help retain SOME interest in the potential release of Time 2.

@@thecrypticstench Seems that hes too busy with the four other albums hes working on,and dont quote me on this but i think he mentioned that too much of Time ||would be revealed if he'd put out a studio version,if the live song from 2018 really is Storm from the album...

@@jii-ro7083Listen to Kiko Loureiro's albums, for me he is the most technical that has ever been in Megadeth, I have never heard such a precise and clean guitarist live.

I do think Kiko is way better than any of them, even Friedman. Just look at Kiko's career, it's far above any of what these previous guitarists have achieved apart from Friedman

@@jii-ro7083 Funny. I was a fan of this guy (through Wintersun) Kiko, and Broderick all before they joined Megadeth. And Kiko is by *far* the most gifted and versed in music. Broderick and Teemu are definitely extremely technically proficient and air tight control over their instrument but Kiko's skill as a musician and breadth of understanding of music far surpasses theirs. For most of my time listening to metal, I would have considered Kiko my favorite guitarist. If you are sleeping on Kiko you obviously are not familiar with his other work before Megadeth.

or he could be the "next guy", which is good for him. Wintersun has been inactive lately, being in megadeth pays your bills (as long as Mustaine's healthy).
