2000 watts at 12 volts requires 167 amps. Most alternators in cars do not produce this amperage so be aware and this is of no fault of Bestek. It's up to you to keep track of your loads which include the batter spec ~ amp/hours. If you attach this to your car battery and your alternator is only producing 90 amps, you will only have access to 1080 running watts and will drain your battery if your load is over what your alternator is producing. I use a larger Briggs & Stratton engine with a car two hundred amp alternator.. just to charge with

What’s the deal with having 2 pos and 2 neg clips. It’s a pain in the butt. Also when this inverter is on, the battery tender can’t keep up with keeping the battery charged while inverter is hooked up to the battery. And that’s pretty important when connected to a backup sump pump.

I 100% agree with you. I have this Bestek unit. Attempting to hook-up 2 sets of cables to any standard battery is not only a pain but, it's redickulous. The cables provided with this unit by Bestek is too short in length and low-grade quality. This unit requires more power to operate then a standard 100 watt alternator can put-out.

Great video. I have one just like this Bestek power inverter. I have 2 questions. First: Is it really necessary to connect the 2 sets of alligator clamps to the battery? Second: Inadvertently touched the negative clamp to the positive on the battery and the 6 fuses damaged at the same time. How?

What if you plug a battery charger into it and charge the battery while you use the other outlets to power what ever. Would the charger be able to keep up with the draw on the battery?

What would be powering the battery charger? Why wouldn't you then just plug the item into whatever is running the battery charger? It would just be a matter of calculating how much the charger is producing vs. how much you are drawing out with the inverter.

Antonio Claudio Michael You got that backwards my friend. It converts DC current from say a car battery or deep cycle marine battery for instance to AC current to run anything you normally plug a wall socket.

I purchased this Bestek 2000 Watt inverter. #1 Flaw with this unit is the short, low quality cables provided with the unit. While using this Bestek unit under the engine hood of a running vehicle. The Heat of the vehicle engine causes this Bestek unit to over-heat! Not only that, 2 sets of cables is redickulous when attempting to attack 2 sets of cables to any standard Battery. When this unit is hooked-up to a vehicle. During Vehicle engine idle. This unit requires more power to operate than a standard engine 100 amp alternator can put out. Junk!
