Was in the crowd at every single launch of the Collins thanks to my uncle being a senior electrical engineer that worked on the entire construction project. Nice replica indeed

Beautiful model indeed. Hats off to you and Jason for an excellent build as always. I’ve learned a lot following your videos and the Collins is PERFECT! Very detailed information on the build. Thank you Bob!

Fail safe unit that will bring the boat to surface and the positive reserve buoyancy is a great added feature btw. The thought of losing the boat and looking for it in the pond while your buddies snap photos of you isn’t cool lol.

Bob, just subscribed to your channel! Have been watching for months. If printing in PLA, have you ever tried covering the boat in glass cloth and polyester resin?

Yes I have, but not polyester. I use epoxy almost exclusively now.

what is the max depth rc subs can usually go to? if u go too deep then the pump can't put air back into the ballast tanks to evacuate the water, right? what is the max pressure those pumps can make?

Cant a thin wire antenna Be designed to float above Water barely visible that Trails above and behind the Boat? Using a small cork? to extend the antenna. Using The thinnest wire available and amplifyer for signal if necessary. Could try as Experiment. If floating far enough away from sub would not give away location. How long Minimum does antenna need to be to operate controls?

You can and people do. However, unless the water is ridiculously clear and you are right on top of it, glare and murkiness will prevent you from seeing it pretty quick. So if it goes much deeper than this setup, you already wouldn't see it under most conditions and that would take away a good chunk of your fun and piloting capability. Unless ofc you mount a camera system, in which case you would need a tether anyway to get the video signal out. But those aren't very thin. If in salt water, tether is really the only way to go as signal penetration is much lower.

@@CitizenMio i ve seen many videos where the subs are totally submerged. I wonder how did they setup the receiver and antenna. Im buillding a 1.5 m typhoon and im having trouble with that...
@CitizenMio
@CitizenMio Жыл бұрын
@@mariquitos586 oh you can totally fully submerge ofc, it's just that the signal needs to penetrate the water for you to control it. That's a lot harder to do than through air. Depending on frequency of the signal used, your distance and angle compared to the water and it's composition and salinity you can penetrate somewhat more or a whole lot less. As I mentioned before though, in freshwater you can usually go deeper than is practical given typical murkiness. Unless you use a camera for control. In which case the video signal will have a very hard time going very deep at all without a tether or other connection to the surface. A 1.5m Typhoon sounds like a wonderfully big project to tackle. At that scale, once the top of the sail is fully submerged, the rest of the boat will already be approaching murky depths in your average water. Run your antenna through one of the periscopes or snorkels and have it stick out a bit above that even. That would give you as much depth range to play with as possible. Lower frequency signals also penetrate deeper, which is more common in older transmitters these days. Though I believe there's been some effort in the community to come up with modern solutions. Haven't fully brought myself up to date on that yet.

@@CitizenMio sorry for replying so late. I'm almost finishing the typhoon (just have to mount the water pumps system and the props) and I ve really done a lot of research about this topic. I discovered that there s a bunch of people using low frequency radio systems which unfornately are very rare to found. I actually bought the radio that the rc sub guy recommends( Radiolink AT96) which works with 2.4 Ghz like most of the radios nowadays. Some say that It works and I ll be able to fully submerge the antenna while other say that I ll quickly lost the signal. Anyways, I ve bought a 60 cm antenna extension so that I have safer conditions to run the boat. Btw Im planning to run it on a swimming pool not in murky waters so I ll guess that the signal will penetrate the water better. It s my first rc sub and I didnt use a 3d printer for anything, It s all fiber glass and handmade pieces. I can show you some photos if u have any type of social media hehe.

@@mariquitos586 Congrats on what sounds as excellent progress on your boat! Getting the antenna extension was probably a smart move. Pool wise, it depends on what you got in there. Salt and you'd have the same issues as at sea, but chlorinated pool water does the same. But if you have a pool it's great for testing and rescue missions are easy. As for the social media, just post a build log on one of the various forums. I'm sure they'd love the attention and other people would get to benefit from it as well. :) My own projects have begun as well. Against all odds I've managed to find a Thunder Tiger Neptune after all. Already has a new battery. Replacing the o-rings with new ones I found and then it should be good to go. Eventually I'll steampunk it as well, as I love that style. I tried finding one so I'd have something nice to mess with while I start the arduous journey of scratch building a fantasy boat of my own design. Couldn't find a Neptune for weeks, so I decided to do a crazy but fun kit conversion first, to refresh some skills and learn some needed new ones. The day after most of the stuff for that arrived, I found a listing for a Neptune and nearby. Go figure. So now I have three boats in the works. xD

you know I dont get what your channel is really about I contacted you to commission a build for Ohio class sub and you said your to busy to and overwhelmed to do the project? idk what the purpose of your channel is but to show subs but not take orders???? Dont you think that ppl would want to buy any of your products. it seems you like to show but have excuses to commission new builds!!!!!
@RCSubGuy
@RCSubGuy Жыл бұрын
Aw, man. Sounds like your feelings are hurt :( I take builds on commission as my time and inclination allows. You are not entitled to my services and I do not owe you a place in my build queue. I do the best I can in an effort to make a living and support the hobby. I'm sorry it didn't work out for your project. Perhaps reaching out in a calm and professional manner would incentivize my re-evaluation of my queue for you, but certainly whining on a public forum about how upset you are won't make that happen.
