Confused when you look at the instructions on your Ikea Melodi Lamp? Take a look at my super simple technique to fit one to an existing ceiling rose.
Watch the video from beginning to end before you attempt this and only do it if you feel confident. It's super important you turn off the electric before working on this and only turn it back on once you've put everything back together.

I don't understand where to put the exra wire. Yes in the cup but how. It ruins the "screw" bit cause the wire wont go straight down anymore. Been doing this for two hours now and I can't get it to screw

Just watched your video, I have two of these to put up and I have bought the ceiling hooks. Daft question but where would you put the ceiling hook of using one? Would you have to take all of the other fitting out?

I honestly don't know because you will need to keep the connections in the ceiling rose so I wouldn't remove it. That's why the cable tie method seems a better solution at least in the UK.
