Clemson fan. We still believe in high school recruiting, coaching, player development, and MOST IMPORTANTLY graduating student athletes. Clemson football consistently graduates 95-99% of its players. Many in 3 years. PAW Journey. Developing young men to be successful in life. That's Dabo's real impact. That's the real allure of Clemson. And why we have a top 2-3 recruiting class for 2025.

I respect Dabo and Clemson.

I think what people need to remember is the fact it really and truly is "little ol Clemson". Look at the names that have been at the top for the last 10-15 years and stayed there the way Clemson has. Bama, UGA, Ohio St, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon... the amount of money, resources thanks to conference, national exposure. Clemson is a TINY school in upstate South Carolina that majority of people have no idea where its located. They are the party crashers to the big schools that never left. To change what made a tiny school into a football powerhouse right when the rest of the country had no answers for you - thats a very difficult change to make. People were calling Dabo the next football genius after the 2018 massacre they put on Alabama. Now they call him behind the times.

Dabo is fundamentally against the idea of bringing in players, who are only interested in the highest bidder, and having them start over guys who have been committed since day one and worked hard for their opportunities. It’s not hard to figure out

The transfer portal is not how any championship team has built a roster in the past 5 years or never. The transfer portal is how teams are supplementing rosters. Teams are bringing in transfer players to immediately fill holes in the roster. Deion tried building through the portal year 1 at Colorado. We all know that outcome, we'll see what the outcome is in 2024. The best example we've seen was USC in 2022 but they didn't win a chip and regressed in 2023. Having 20 out of 85 scholarship players being transfers is not building through the portal. The overwhelming majority is still high school recruits. If this were truly the more effective way to "build" a roster why aren't all programs trying to bring in 10 to 20 transfers each cycle? The answer is because it’s not. You bring in a few players here and there to supplement what you already have. These schools could easily save millions by scaling back high school recruiting. They're not scaling back because the best way to build a program is through recruitng the high schools. Player development, team chemistry and culture plays a big part in putting together a championship team. Unless all power 5 teams intentionally start building thru the portal at the same time, the next 50 years will be heavily dominated by programs that aren't "building" thru the portal.

I’m not trying to be a biased Clemson fan, but honestly Clemson right now they still have a top 10 defense that is pretty good. We are finally starting to get a good solid wide receiver core with this new class. Over all I don’t think there is any need for a bunch of portal players. The problem I think there is. Is a development problem. Cade klubnick doesn’t look like he has grown at all. He still makes stupid throws and is really just careless with the ball. Just like DJ when he was at Clemson, even know I do think Cade is better then DJ. But it makes you wonder, because DJ didn’t look like he really was developed either. My point is I think there is some serious problems with the development of the players. And I think it’s a big part as of why Clemson has kinda fell off the tracks and isn’t in any playoff conversations.

Your wrong . There is not a big change that needs to happen . They don’t need to do it the way you think just because you say so. They won the ACC in 2022 and were one win away from the playoffs that year . Now I don’t think they would have done well if they had won that last game of the season and made the playoffs in 2022 but they were only one game out. They just have not hit on the last two QBs . Klubnic still has a chance to be the QB we need but it has not been good at QB the last three years. Dabo only needs to figure out how the new rules can work for Clemson. It’s not an either or situation. There are a multitude of ways he can make it work in today’s CFB and I trust him to do so more than I do you or any of the talking heads who think they know better but have never actually done it.

He can be fine without the portal. They can use the portal for injury need if they lack depth at a spot. They dont have to being in 10-15 transfers per year. They can bring in 2-3 and be fine. How many transfers did they have per year prior to the portal?

With all due respect, I disagree that you cannot be successful without using the portal. If you recruit at a high level, you have a skilled staff, and you DEVELOP those players you can win without building a roster out of the portal. The reason coaches use the portal is because they cannot recruit well or do not have talent. As a former football player and longtime Clemson fan, it was obvious to us that our talent was not being developed!! In no circumstance can the portal replace great recruits, retention, and development. The old adage is this, if everyone jumps off a cliff, are you going to do the same? No one knew DJ was going to be a flop, our offensive line struggles because of development by an inexperienced oline coach. It cannot be fixed overnight, you will never win every game either. The great and wonderful Alabama didnt make the cfp every year, neither did Clemson, neither has Georgia, look at the great and wonderful Ohio State, they made it 2 years!! Portal hysteria has to stop. How many players has it ruined? Far more than it has helped!! These youtube geniuses need to find another topic, portal crap is old news. Clemson will be fine, the fundamentals will be addressed. I have been very, very critical of Dabos not so recent hires with promoting from within, when the coach couldnt develop his players, and that my friend is where the problem lies.
