Try tapping the gauge with your screw driver and it will show whether there is a leak in less than a minute. Every monometer gauge is ever so slightly sticky. By tapping it lightly the needle moves if there is a leak earlier than waiting for it to so on let's own.

Great instructions. But for those folks that are truly non mechanical "turning RIGHT= Clockwise and LEFT = Counter Clockwise" on needle or gate type valves, Left being Open, Right being Closed. On Ball type valves that usually only make 1/4 turn On to Off, the handle should be in line with the flow when the valve when open, But this should verified as someone may have repositioned the handle. MOST important HAVE a FIRE EXTINGUISHER available when working on any flamable systems ie. Fuel, Gas, and Electrical systems.

What is the reason for bleeding down to 8" water column? When I hook my manometer to a burner, it goes to about 11.5" water column. If I turn off the propane it will hold that pressure for 30 minutes (or more), but if I bleed down to 8" as shown here, my pressure continues to drop, indicating a leak. Why would my system hold 11.5" but not 8" ??

Next, you shouls show them how to test your LP GAS regulator to see if it is operating and correct operating pressure and a LOAD TEST if you know how to do it, its real easy

is that clockwise or counter clock....
