Important question, will there be a gamemode to just fight without the chess part?

We have a training room for labbing but no "Fight only" mode. If a game goes into Final Showdown in a regular match (Timer runs out), it will pit every remaining character against each other 1 by 1 until you defeat the King.

Pawns do not fight - they straight up eat you on the board. They can win games if your opponent blunders a piece (one less piece to fight off) and you can also take a King this way ;) Speaking of King, the more pawns you have left on the board, the stronger your King's Ult will be!

@@CheckmateShowdown I played the demo....are there no blocking and dodging moves? Is it just a dps smash fest? I was excited to play it but the fighting aspect was terrible imo

@@styxrakash4639 You can block by holding back (backwards movement). We also have dashes/dash cancels/airdash. Bummer that you think the fighting aspect is terrible. While we did opt for accessibility (making controls easier to learn for newcomers in FG) which may feel like the fighting aspect is lacking to some, there are different combos and strings that are worth exploring.
