This week, for the first time, I am checking out & reviewing a pair of AKG headphones….and wow, did they impress! They are the very affordable, open back AKG by Harman 245’s. What do they sound like? Did they impress me? Would I recommend them? Lots to cover, so sit back and watch me deliver my verdict to you.
Every week here on the channel I will be talking tech & audio. I’ll bring you weekly tutorials about Adobe Audition & taking a look at what’s new to my studio and giving in-depth product reviews.

I have the K-245 and its twin the K-275, they are warm, FUN ans easy to drive (32ohms). I use them for music listening and tv. I'm not a bass head, I don't find they lack bas at all. Both, k-275 and K-245, are way bassier than Ath-m40x (even with big leather pads). The k-245 are much louder than Philips Shp9600, but their soundstage is narrower (Shp9600 are wonderfully sounding headphones by the way). I disagree with Mister Lewis concernig the pads. I think these are pretty shallow, I have world smallest ears and they touch the foam on the driver. Maybe shallow pads help sound seam louder... I just bought the k-245 and Of the two, k-275 and k-245, I think I prefer the 245... and the 275 were my favorite pair of headphones. Build quality is the best I ever owned/seen. They don't look cheap, they don't feel cheap, squeaky or loose, these are metal and they are tight. Clamping force is just fine. Buils quality is WAY better than audio technica 40x, Philips shp9600 and Lyx-pro Has-30. If you want an open pair of headphones to ear yourself singing, look elsewhere for a more open pair (Grado, Shp9600, Shp 9500...). Oh! and k-245 costed 108$CAD on amazon in 2022 for that price I don't know any better headphone (I paid more than 250$CAD for the k-275 in 2020).

I've been struggling a lot with recording guitar and later to mix the sound well. You did a fair review imo. though Im yet to try them out. Hoping my next video/recording feels a little better. First studio refs I've owned. Thanks for the work done. Take a sub. Off to see some of your other videos.

Hey there Kris - lovely to hear from you and as you know, the sub really matters. Hope you enjoy the other videos, and hope to hear from you again in the future. Good luck with the guitar recordings too

Well I ordered a pair so we'll see how it goes. I do have some training and real world experience in pro level live sound mixing and a bit of sound editing so I'm not a total beginner. I liked the idea of these for two jobs. I'm a photographer who now finds that he's also a video guy covering live events and I wanted an upgraded set of headphones to monitor the sound. So they needed to be portable and not totally cut off the sound of my surroundings as I'll be moving around and possibly interacting with people. The other is to have something to hear myself playing the electric guitar while practicing without annoying the neighbours too much. For the price they seem like a bargain and from the description they sound ideal for my needs.

sounds to me as if you've picked wisely. Clearly, you know what you are looking for. These AKG's should tick most of the boxes for you

Great video, I am considering buying a pair to use to practice music with. I find the cheaper closed back akg k52 are very fatiguing on the ears. Have you noticed that with these? Any recommendations on open back headphones that are not as fatiguing as others?

hi David - I always keep going back to my Beyers - the open-back ones I am using right now are the DT900s. I was wearing them for about 5 hours straight yesterday and they were super!

@@DavidLewisTech thank you very, do you have any recommendations for open backs under €150 that aren't too fatiguing?
@DavidLewisTech

@@irishbanjolessons I'll give it some thought David - off the top of my head I can't think of any that I have here in that price bracket - and I wouldn't want to recommend a pair I'd not personally tried out...leave it with me...
